Thank you muchly Aidan. I've printed it out. My care worker Tracey took me a walk with my tri-walker. I walked half an hour. Painful, but afterwards I felt good i myself.

    Love to everyone. xxx

You are very welcome Kath - well done you for walking for half an hour, you will feel inspired I know. Painful, I can guess. Rest up now, keeping everything on a level, not stretching those nerves. Nothing wrong with having little naps :)

Hi to everyone else too, will write again, later on. XX Aidan

    Hi Everyone :)

Joan that could well be a combi - they do sometimes need topping up. Ah well you have heat now anyway and they looked after you :)

Mig I bet you cannot wait to see the show lucky you :) Makes up for having to organise your hubby and his hearing aids ;) Bless him. Hopefully t is just a clean they need.

Hi Kath Good to hear you been out on your tri-walker. I hope it hasn't made you more sore and that the positive effects of getting out were worth it :)

Aidan Diddicat has lost another collar so is wearing her last  Can you see if she's left it in any of your cat's baskets/near food bowls/tuna cupboards etc???

I agree with you about having little naps - if I feel I need one then I do!

Right best get in the shower!

Afternoon to one and all - I never quite made it, to write more, last evening. After nattering to our Niece for ages, it was well gone midnight and I had run out of steam.
    f032.gif
Finally, the rain stopped - hoorah. If this happens every time we clean Miss M, we will need an ark.

Toni, Miss Diddicat was fibbing, exercise my eye, lots of scoffing and preening.
I was happy with my O levels and mock A levels. I failed RE, and me, a Vicar's Son. I was shamed, so I did a re sit and got an A, much to my Dads relief - ooops
Good that little Yorkie has started Physio, bless and bless some more. Tough little things, these pets of ours.

I have had two "proper" coffees, with no ill effects, otherwise sticking to decaf - not wanting to temp and untowards or otherwise.
Goodness, poor lady, who passed away after her holistic treatment. I bet they stopped her regular prescription meds and just went for some strange mix of herbs and tea's. I am not too keen on Chinese medicine, using bits of animals that are bordering on extinction. Terrible shame what they do to them.
I didn't realise that the puppy had been missing from Cris' care since 2014...........sad

Hope the hair do's were ok and you and Lucy are looking all smart and preened :) - I am dropping hints to OH that my very short hair, needs another cut...........at the moment it is falling on deaf ears  But I will persist :D:lol:

I am glad that all things heating and hot water are working again Joan. All the combi boilers are pretty sensitive to pressure, needing a top up every now and then. No, when I threw the tea, it was away from me, onto the worktops,  fortunately. Hope you have managed to be out and about with Sue and the Doggies.

Mig, these modern hearing aids are super small and very fiddly - I was hopeless at changing my Mum's, with minute batteries flying all over. I have to put all appointments into the phone / computer calendar, otherwise I would never know where we should be and why........bless us all.
Hope you enjoyed the concert, I bet it was packed out. Was it at the Theatre Royal? I remember going to see the Drifters there, they were amazing, everyone was up and dancing......met them afterwards, was a great night.

Hope you are ok Barbara, have we to call Dr George in from his days off?
Lemon Drizzle and Malt loaf, way to go. I tend to struggle with malt loaf, it kind of sticks in a lump and you need a pint of T to wash it down. I would just have to make do with two slices of the lemon cake.
If we lived next door, we would give your car a polish too, with pleasure. Well, I would assist OH, doing bits that I can reach. I don't do wheels and door sills.
You keep an eye on what is being deleted from your recorded list. I had read that there would be one more Downton, but maybe it was wishful thinking.......we loved that series, SO much.
Good that there was a big turnout at the cenotaph, rightly so. We must never forget. My G dad was in the first world war and lived on, while so many fell.

Kath I hope you are not in too much pain, after your walking yesterday. Gentle stretching, just to keep things mobile. I know I would like to sit in my comfy chair and not move, but it doesn't happen, my back shouts when it is time to potter.

So that is what was shining from the tuna tins, Diddicat's collar. Leaving evidence behind. Cheeky monkey.

Definitely naps are a great thing. I don't always sleep, but it is nice to be horizontal and just ease the joints a while. The cats know exactly what time we have naps, to the minute. They are all up and ready to go to bed at the same time. Cats know too much me thinks. lol

Had a nice lunch out, well, we had to take Miss M out for a spin, just to make sure she was filthy, again.  I always book the table, the one next to the cake counter. There was a huge chocolate cake, no one had started it and it looked amazing. But, I ordered far too many chips with our lunch, so I had to forego the cake, which was very upsetting.:cry:
Mum and Dad are ok, we will see them tomorrow. Friday we meet up with my Aunt and Uncle in Skipton, oh and my Cousin, who is over from France. That will be nice.

Right, I had better move. I am gradually setting. the_royal_matron_01500.jpg We have a good team on for a couple of nights now. We are in safe hands. 91bfce02215f6b97719c43f8f6f033ec.jpg

Hi to Elizabeth, Christine, Kath, and all. Everyone take lots of care. It is getting colder this week, with even more rain............ XXXX Aidan

Now then Barbara, Matron here. Just not feeling quite right and not going to Drs, reminds me of my Mother. "it will be ok tomorrow" was often the answer. Yes Mother, as I was on the phone arranging a home visit :)
Doctors don't mind and would at least do a run of routine observations and or bloods etc. Might be worth a visit, I will gladly come with you and I am sure if Toni can find the invisible cloak, we will all pile in. You would not be wasting their time, never think that. I don't, I usually go in and tell them what's wrong and what I need :lol: :?
Right, end of lecture from Matron.

George is already away now Barbara, gone off to his Villa on Lake Como. He deserves a week off, with all the persistent swooning that has swept the cafe.
Thank you for saying I lift the spirits - I do try my best. I think that is why we end up with half the neighbours popping in, to have their problems sorted and spirits lifted. Trouble is, that can be very draining, but, we help where we can, just as we do here, in the cafe and forum.

I forgot to say hi Carol, hope you are ok and that the bruising has gone or is well on the way to going. Hope the finger is ok too. XX Aidan

Kath I get that burning pain in my left leg. I thought it might be to do with circulation but that is just a guess. It only seems to be on my bad hip side so it might be to do with that.

I am currently really struggling with standing and walking. Thankfully the kids are helping a lot more but that is good for them to be more independent.

Joan we think the building work will start after Christmas, probably around March when the weather improves. Unfortunately It will be very noisy. At the moment we are shielded by trees and hedging and I'm not sure how much greenery is in the gardens that back onto the bit of land they will be building on or how much will be cut down as it is next to the garages.

Toni Thelma was Ozzies wife wasn't she? She was beautiful but of course he played around.

Thank you Aidan OH bought the advent calendars-yipee! I gave him a long shopping list but he only read one side, luckily he he remembered the calendars as I reminded him beforehand!
I'm a bit dotty on greyhounds and I'm always trying to send money to the rescues as they are in constant demand.

Aidan I was tiny when I had my children,7 stone the day I walked out of hospital with my first, and not much bigger with the others. Of course now I'm making up for lost time  . I could hide my pregnancies until 7 months with all of them. I hated that bit but once born I'd be fine.
Yes we want to move as we are near London and could move to a cheaper area and have a better home. We might need it as a pension but expect OH will blow it on scooters and cars.

I read that the lady who died was allegedly slapped Toni and it seems she paid for the privilege.

Ah it was 3 knitted bootees Christine :) .

    sorry going to post quick

Elizabeth did you say 'paid' to be slapped?! Weird cures and bad to hear what Aidan added about animals used in some of the cures too :(

I am sorry that you are suffering so much ATM. Is this due to the need for surgery or a flare? ((()))

I was like you when I had mine and was not good pregnant. After I had Lucy I was 6st 10lb. Toooo much morning sickness :(

Yes Ozzie's first wife was Thelma and she really was gorgeous. I think he was pretty bad husband in those days.

I hope kids are all well especially your Lucy. Mine has mentioned pain in 'the other' hip :? I am hoping she is just favouring it.

Aidan - Poor George was rushed of his feet with the outbreak of fainting, I expect he needs a rest now ;)

Miss Diddicat insists that she has been training with Pepe.....and that she is a sleek and slim pusskin....

Helping out here and there is ok so long as your own batteries get recharged from time-to-time. You don't get 'away' much, but I hope runs out in the new car help.

I am similar to you and at the QE entertained everyone all of the time. Listened to all the Mums and supported them all, never seemed to cry myself, but it takes it's toll so......((())) and some strength for you :)

How embarrassing failing RE!! The A made up for it in the end though :)

Now BARBARA! how are you feeling today? I am 100% with Aidan on this one. Remember your kidneys aren't great so you should see the doc. I don't like going either, but we will be right there with you. The cloak of invisibility has room for several.

I can nap only in the day when I am ill/flaring.

Thank you very much I am happy with my hair :) Lucy is having extensions again in her hair. A dark-ish colour though. Not her natural dark-blonde.

Joan I hope all is well with you and you are both warm enough.

Love to Kath, mig Carol and Christine

Have had some lemon drizzle with a nice cup of decaf tea thanks Barbara :) I will post you a photo definitely of Lucy's 'hair' :)

We trust you to go to the docs if you don't pick up. Reassuring that your bloods were done recently.

Oh Dear Joan  I hope your leg doesn't blister should be ok now though if you put sudocrem on it. I am glad you are cosy now. Yesterday the temp was 18 degrees today 9 so going down :(

Aiden, how am I supposed to get through all these posts if you keep putting on a picture of George? Sorry you missed out on chocolate cake because you ate too many chips. Sounds as if you have a busy couple of days. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. My daughter usually tells her GP what is wrong with her and what she wants on prescription and they usually agree. She learned a lot from managing pathology labs.

Toni, I won't eat any voles. I don't want to be wormed. There are some people who believe that if they use alternative therapies then they no longer need to take their medication. Perhaps, as you say, the lady with diabetes was one of them. Oh I hope there isn't anything wrong with Lucy's other hip. It would be nice to see her hair.

Mig, I hope your OH gets his hearing aids cleaned and there's nothing more wrong with them. Enjoy Alfie Bow and Michael Ball. It should be good.

Barbara, what have you done to George? He's laid up in one of the beds. Yes, massage can go wrong if medical history isn't looked at. My daughter's OH deletes my daughter's programmes if there isn't enough space. If you don't feel right tomorrow, get yourself to the doctor. We don't want you unwell. I'm the same this year with presents. Scared I don't get them bought in time.

Kath, well done for walking for half an hour. I'm sure it won't be long till you can walk longer without so much pain.

Elizabeth, sorry you are struggling. It is good for the kids to help out. I hope they don't cut down the greenery when they build. It will help to shield you from it. Glad you got the advent calendars.

Joan, there is a bit of a difference between Michael Ball and Michael Crawford. A couple of weeks ago, I enjoyed walking through all the leaves on the way to work as they were crunchy but now they are very wet and I worry about slipping on them. I hope your leg is ok after spilling the coffee.

I picked my youngest GD up from nursery yesterday and looked after her till daddy came home from work. She said she knew someone special would be collecting her. Then she said she was happy that I would pick her up any time mummy and daddy were going somewhere they didn't want her to go. Don't think she realised they were at work.

Oh Christine! How adorable is your GD!!! She knew someone special would be picking her up!! I bet that really made you feel like someone VERY special :D

I expect some people hope alternative therapies can cure them, but I tend to think if Drs can't...maybe no-one can :(

Ok no voles for you or any small rodent come to that :?

The leaves are proper slippery now and rather dangerous too.

I need to get out and sort my mole hills
    g025.gif
, but I have done 'something' to the ball of my right foot :( GRRRR!!!!

    Hope everyone is ok

    A Barbara. Those sinuses

That explains it all doesn't it? So back on the same treatment I suspect. Hopefully you've caught it earlier this time?

I have no idea what I did to my foot at all....:( Usually to be found sat on my backside

Odd though as it's only one foot. Gone dark here too. I might be meeting Charley's gf's Mum today. They have been together for must be knocking on 2 years, but she was estranged from the family. Oh yes and lives 100s of miles away.

Well, it is very late, again, but I thought I would write a little, while the cats are settled (ish).

Sorry to hear you are struggling with your standing and walking Elizabeth, sending a multitude of hugs. Good that your family are helping and increasing their independence, as you rightly say.
A brief respite from building noise, so it will all start in the Spring. Let's hope the trees and shrubs are left in situ, to block out some of the noise.
I am glad you got the Advent Calendars, I was looking at them today and wondering if you had found any. Plus I was thinking should I get some for me? lol. but I resisted.
Good that OH read the correct side of the list, chocolate !! Most important.
You were tiny, much like my Mum. I remember when Mum got up to 7 stone, she thought she was really big - er, Mother, you are a size nothing, don't worry about it. Bless.
It would be nice to move, downsize and get a better house, using the money from selling a house in London. I would want to be away from the big city too. Write to "escape to the country" and see if they will do a programme with you and yours.

Oh my it sounds like the heavens have opened, lashing down, hail, rain, sleet.............

Hi Toni, Lucy is getting pain in her other hip, mmmmmm, as you say, I bet there has been a lot of added pressure over recent months, even more so if there is a pelvic tilt. Hopefully things will equal out.
Diddicat is having delusions (a bit like myself), that she is as slim as a wafer. I have seen no training, just a lot of munching. Pepe is shouting the odds at the moment and has hollow legs.

It is now Thursday - I ran out of steam last night and pills caught up with me, so bed it was.

Helping out seems to be the order of each day, this morning phone rang, next door, not feeling well, so came round, duly checked out by yours truly, has Drs appointment booked......coffee and lots of sympathy. Then neighbour opposite popped in to see neighbour who was already here, lol. His potassium is high, so was off to the Drs for another blood test. I said be careful, any pains etc, get yourself seen asap, high potassium is not good.............anyway, we finally got round to doing what we had planned to do, which was nothing, from noon onwards............ :? Everyone says they cannot do without us being here, which is nice to know and we are never allowed to move, lol.

Thanks for the extra hugs Toni. Very welcome.

Glad the hair is suiting and hope Lucy's extensions are lovely. I had mine clippered down to nearly nothing again, much happier now.

Did you find the cloak, I assume so, a I cannot see you anywhere :lol: :? We will need it for Barbara's appointment.

Joan, I hope you are ok after spilling hot coffee, it is always worse on clothing, as it sticks to you and keeps on burning. Sudocrem is ok and flamazine is very good, (if they still sell it), I know we used it a lot in hospital. Take care, both, plus doggies, in this colder weather. The forecast is for ice and sleet.
Miss M is liked by everyone, even though she is dirty AGAIN. Covered in pine needles from the trees nearby. They are a devil, they get everywhere.

Good to hear that you are going to the Drs Barbara - Toni and I would have kidnapped you under the cape and taken you. If it is sinusitis, it is horrid, makes you feel horrid, pressure, headaches etc. I hope they give you some AB's to clear it up asap.
Of course I managed to fit the cake in yesterday, lol, I don't mind if I have a big mouth for cakes, lol...........no offence taken.:lol: That is apart from Malt loaf, then I have a very small pursed lipped mouth, that will not open. So glad it has all been eaten. I will cut a delicate slice of lemon drizzle though :)

We do seem to have had a busy few days Christine, out, about, then looking after all the neighbours, I thought being retired due to ill health was a time to rest up a little. Boy was I wrong.
I won't put any more pictures of George on, at least, not while he is on holiday this week. Maybe next week.
You are right about the holistic medicines, some are very good and work well, as stand alone treatments, but, if you look at the person as a holistic being, then a mixture of modern medicines and holistic treatments can work very well together. A lot of Surgeries often have alternative therapists who work closely with the local Drs. Striking a balance is the essential part, each must compliment the other, rather than fight against.
Bless you GD, children say the sweetest things sometimes.
Take care in the wet with the leaves, I dread falling on them, they can be like glass when they are stuck to the pavements.

Those moles are about again Toni - you can get ultrasonic things that stick into the ground, to deter them. Is it plantar fasciitis in your foot? just wondering, as that can be very painful on the ball of your foot, speaking from experience. Hope you manage to meet up with Mum in law to be :) Estranged, how sad.

Joan, we will be on pocket duties for Monday, to make sure all goes ok at the hospital.

It is very cold and damp Mig, best place is indoors, eating lovely sprouts, cottage pie and york puddings, mmmmmmmmmm enjoy.

Right, I will put some washing into the dryer, then potter a bit, my legs have gone numb, so I had better be careful. Stock up the biscuit tin, ready for cuppa before nap time at 6.

Off to meet my Aunt and Uncle and Cousin (who is over from France, she married a French guy and live near Paris on a Champagne vineyard). I don't get to see her very often, so that will be lovely. Nero's is the venue, cake is on the menu and shopping to Mark's, well, you have to, it would be rude not to go. Oh and to the garage to have mud flaps fitted to the read of Miss M. It's all go.......................................Let's hope it does not snow :winter-storm:
Everyone take lots and lots of care. XXXXX Aidan

Toni, did you maybe stand on something or is it probably arthritis? Hope it doesn't hurt for too long. Did you get to meet Charley's gf's mum? It'll be nice to meet her. You never seem to sit on your bum for long. Always on the go.

Barbara, off to the doctor's with you. No point suffering if they can help you. It has been many years since any of our surgeries allowed you to walk in. I think it would be a good idea to do that at least a couple of days a week. I'm never sure when I'll have time to go so sometimes end up not bothering. If I didn't need to go to work, it'd take me till lunch time to get going too.

Joan, hope your blood test went ok and it's not long till you get the results. Looks as if you'll be at the hospital for a long time on Monday. My granddaughter's name is Ruby.

Mig, it's been very grey here all day and hasn't stopped raining. I'm really enjoying sprouts at the moment.

Aiden, how lovely to be needed so much. Your neighbours must think a lot of you. Hope you enjoyed your time with your aunt, uncle and cousin. A champagne vineyard near Paris? How wonderful. Will they bring you a bottle or two?

Got a bit wet going to work today and got very wet on the way home. It's been a horrible grey day. Got my annual blood test results back today. All normal. I'm glad they are normal but it's a bit confusing when I'm told I have RA but it doesn't show on blood tests. I've got 2 friends coming at the weekend so have got one of the spare bedrooms ready. It's usually a store room but now it's a bedroom. :D

Forgot to mention. Last night, I got a phone call from a man saying he knew my tv warranty was about up. I had heard a few people saying there was a scam going round asking for people's details so they could renew the warranty so I told the man I knew it was a scam and I would be reporting the call to the police. He said it wasn't a scam and I could report it and would find it was legitimate. I then put the phone down. After a couple of minutes, I realised that it was about time for my warranty to run out. They phoned again tonight and told me the make, model etc of my tv. Oops! :autumn-sun:

Yes Barbara, smacked hands indeed. I am sure you will and get those AB's and antivirals. Sterimar is a good one for cleaning out ones nasal passages, pure sea water, don't know if you have tried it. We always keep one in, well, we keep just about one of everything in, just in case we need, or neighbours need.........................
I did have the chance to go on to do my Dr's training, back in the day, you could add another 2 years on to your nurse training. I thought three years was more than enough and said, thanks, but no thanks.
It is blowing very cold, snowing, raining, hail, thunder and anything else it can throw at us. Poor Miss M, out in this weather. She will not be happy and by the time we get back from Skipton today, she will be black as soot. Looking forward to seeing my Cousin and Aunt and Uncle too. They live not too far away, but G moved to France many years ago and teaches languages. I forget how many she speaks fluently.
See Christine is sending you off to the Dr's too. Strength in numbers me thinks :D

A lot of people struggle to get appointments don't they Christine. Ours is pretty good and if you ring, first thing, they will always fit you in that day. We also have a "treatment room" operated by sisters and care staff, they deal with minor injuries, dressings, ECG's, suturing, depomedrone injections, general minor accidents etc. The GP's are always on hand to pop in if needed, seems to work pretty well.
Oh yes, my Cousin would bring some Champagne if I wanted some, they have their own family label. I think it has been in her hubbies family for a long time now. They store it all inside a hill.
I bet you did get wet going to work, not a day for being out and about at all. Make sure you are nice and warm. I hope your visitors enjoy their stay.
My blood tests came back borderline for RA, so they decided it was OA, (which I knew I had anyway). It is quite common to have RA with no signs shown on blood results. It is a strange and fickle thing.
You did right to be cautious about the warranty call. My Dad was duped into parting with nearly £100, after some company cold called and said his sky box was out of warranty and was likely not to work...................Matron soon called them and said "you are using scare tactics to obtain money by deception, I have reported you to Sky, to the trading standards and I want my Fathers money refunded today" They did and apologised profusely. Huh, horrid people. Better to be cautious.

Ok it is way past the time for me turning into a pumpkin, so I had better move my bones.
I think the heated seats will be on in the car, when we head out. Taking extra care on the decking ramp. OH went flying one year and broke some of the spindles when he fell, really shook him up.
Everyone stay warm and take extra care.
XXXXX Hattie is on tonight and Sister from Heartbeat. We are in safe hands.

    Morning everyone :)

Not sure what is wrong with my foot - it feels like I have one large stone under it. Usually f it's the arthritis it's both sides :? Mr Google suggests something to do with the metatarsals???? It's better with my sketchers on.

Yesterday I thought it was snowing out there. Looked out and all the leaves were whirling like a mini tornado. I told Lucy who reckoned I was exaggerating. Then there it was! On the news :)

Joan I am so very glad you had all those X-rays and they are looking after you properly. The CT on Monday? Is that in preparation for the foot op?

Aidan I reckon your house is a veritable pharmacy supplying those in need!!!

I am so glad to hear Miss M has her new mud flaps fitted :) Much better and next time she goes out she won't get so filthy :)

Diddicat (AKA 'Sleek') insists she and Pepe do circuit training and not a morsel passes her lips...

She is due her jabs next month so we shall see eh?

I popped in last night before bed. Hattie and Heartbeat sister advised RICE for my foot ;)

Glad OH is super-cautious on the deck. It can be lethal  and that he cut your hair :D

I must remember to ring the hip doc's se to see if he wants an X-ray before she goes to clinic at the end of the month.....

How lovely to see your cousin. Visitors from France, but I expect you get a tiny bit just a tiny bit envious... :(
Christine - you were still right to be cautious! When the boke rings me saying he's from Microsoft I say I have a Mac (not true) because they don't have this number

My bloods have had negative R Factor too, but when arthritis is active I get high inflammatory markers.

Sounds like the spare room is looking good now if it's safe to have visitors in there :) I hope you have a good old natter :)

I did get to meet Charley's gf's Mum. She was lovely. Lucy and I joined the 3 of them for a pub lunch :)

Barbara I hope you brave the walk-in today and that the steroid drops are in date :?

I have a feeling that helping others 'helps' our Aidan don't you? I imagine his OH will 'protect' him if needs be.

Take care of yourself I mean it. Aidan and I are quite prepared to put you under tha cloak and take you to the docs

mig sounds like a great meal for you lot. I'm sure you could quickly knock-up a veggie one too??

I hope everyone else is ok Kath Elizabeth Carol and anyone else I have missed.
