    Evening everyone.

Another tough day at school mainly because I've had a bad headache all day. And had to teach 2 more PE lessons today but that's it now, the coaches are back, so it's back to covering classes and meetings for me! Decided at 3:30 I'd had enough so came home early so feeling more rested now.

Good news about Lucy. And yay to Dr Tim.

    Oooh snuggle time. [emoji4]

Hi There Barbara Toni Mig Kerrin Kath Elizabeth Joan Carol SW DD and all

You can eat as many mini cakes as you like Barbara, it is good to have you back on board. If anyone asks, how do you like your eggs? say "in a cake please":lol:
Mum's leg is no better, no worse, I think they might choose the IV option come next week, just to knock things on the head, oral AB's are good, but they are limited to how much of the actual drug gets into your system, how you take them, with food etc........

It is lovely here, in the cafe and all the forum. It is a rare event that there are any grumbles between people.

    6fea1e6f8fa43753a58b72d977300e35.jpg

I think we all have one of these, to be used anytime :)

I am glad you are nursing your back and it is a little easier.

You are very welcome Toni, it is the least we can all do. No welling up now, or we will all be off.
Enjoy your scones and champagne, maybe a little sit on the window seat, mind Kath.
You will be more than drained, all of you have a good rest. A nice roaring fire, at a distance of course. Paul can have the hot seat.

Kerrin I am glad that you can go back to your normal duties, hope the headache has eased too.
You did right finishing early and taking some time to rest up.

We had an early nap, with Niece coming after she finished work. Of course the cats were completely thrown, so were we to be honest. Pepe is just about recovered, but is still not sure why we went to nap so early.
Nice to see her, had some sandwiches and a natter, then she popped round to see nan and g dad. Told her to be careful driving home with it being so frosty and to let us know when she was home safe.

I keep thinking it is midnight and it is not even 10...........all at 6's and 7's.

Carol will be all snuggled, wonderful, hope everything is ok down in sunny Margate.

Kath is off and away, we will need the bus, to go find her on her travels

Right, I will potter a little, try and sort myself out (that will take some doing)

Everyone take care, keep warm. :frozen: XXX Aidan

Afternoon to one and all, a lovely bright and crisp day, blooming chilly though :frozen: Hope everyone is as ok as can be, keeping warm and staying safe.

    Hi Joan
I am glad Sue has some Actim--, anything to help get the bodies good bugs back working again, we need them - they are friendly bugs, not ones that we have to attack with Milto-.
That was terrible to hear that Sue waited a night and day on the corridor. It should not happen, it never used to happen, but I do have some sympathy with admission wards and A & E, when people turn up for absolutely no need, one went in to have her acrylic nail glued back on so she could go out !!!
They put Mum on the corridor, albeit for a short while when I glared and said "this did not happen in all the 25 years I was nursing", Mum was moved into a side room within 5 minutes.

If you are ever concerned about anything if you or Sue or any family member are in hospital, then talk to the PALS, they are there to help and investigate worries and concerns. All hospitals have a PALS service.

Mum said her leg felt a bit better today, not as painful when walking. Let's hope they don't need to admit next week. Dad is ok, mr grumps, but he is just Dad, nothing will change him. Bless. Thank you for asking.
Sorry you lost your post, those gremlins attack our computers.

    Hi There Barbara
the pregabalin knocked you out a bit, did you get some good sleeps? I hope so and hope you are in less pain. I think I have been on them so long now, that the doses have to be tweaked occasionally. I was reading the new notifications on the co codamol tabs, only take for short periods of time  Does 16 years count as a short period. :? :? Anyway, they are necessary, all of them. Every person needs to be treated holistically and individually. At least my GP agrees with that.

Sorry, I am going off at a tangent. Sometimes, antibacterial, anti viral, antifungal don't work as well as they should. Our own bodies have to build up the white cells and attack the rogue bugs and dispose of them. That is not to say that all the above don't have their place, goodness, medicine has come such a long way in a relatively short time span. My late Dad was one of the first to receive Penicillin, to fight the TB of the bone he had, before that, there was nothing. He said it was vile and everyone threw up, but they persisted and finally, they had something to fight a horrid disease.
On the other hand, there is a long way to go with some treatments, some are only in their infancy, working on genetic levels and so complex it boggles the mind.
The sterimar spray is very good for cleaning and clearing the sinuses, you can get it au naturel, or with added zinc. We always have some in as OH has Rhinitis and often the chemical sprays loose their effectiveness.
I could do my rounds I guess, with diddicat, with medical trolley in tow. We would need a bigger broomstick though. I will see if Toni has one hidden in the cloak.

I hope you have had a good day out. I completely understand about the chariot. I feel just the same, although less so than I did. I used to bump into people I had worked with and they would say "what's with the buggy" Oh, no reason   why do you think I am in it?
I too used to love walking, well, being a nurse, you had no choice but to walk miles a day, lol.
I have walked up the highest peaks in the Lake District, the hills in the dales, climbed steep rocky tracks in howling gales I was in the gym 5 times a week and lost over 9 stone in weight in a year...............But times change, we change and our bodies change.
Don't go maudling on me now, keep up with the cakes and we will be fine lol.

Hi Toni, I hope you are having a bit of a rest and a catch up from your hospital visit with Lucy, to Dr Tim. I am sure diddicat has been past the window earlier, pepe was looking out very intently. ;)
Mig I hope all is as ok with you and yours as can be.

Carol, I bet you are totally snuggled and cuddled and having a lovely time.

Elizabeth, I hope you are ok and not too tired and that Dan is ok at school, after the Christmas break.

Christine how was you day back at work, not too taxing I hope, I bet there was a lot to catch up on. Any new vacuums appeared on the horizon. lol

Kath, which way have you headed this time, we will have to put a tracker on, to see where you get to, lol. XX take care though. You are doing SO well.

Kerrin, I hope your day was less demanding, although meetings always used to leave me drained........

Right, I had better move myself, next door has been round with a ton of excess stock and our fridge is now bursting. Help yourself to apple turnovers (fresh cream of course). Chocolate Eclairs too. Lots more, will have a sort out later and we are definitely ok for supper !!

Sorry to be late on just flying past to let you know I am ok.

Been in Stoke all day supporting my friend whose civil partner had b cancer a few years ago. Having the next part of her reconstruction surgery.

Took most of the day and once we knew she was out of surgery my friend went to see her, but she was proper ill when she got there :(. Has an infection - high temp sats low can't get a 2nd cannula in and the one used for the GA has tissued....

Very worrying, but she's in the best place.

Take care everyone I really hope I can post properly and read properly tomorrow. ((()))

Morning everyone. Still in bed here when I should be on the train to work, but have a hospital appointment this morning so get to sleep in. It's with the surgical aid team, not too sure what for but will find out soon.

    Thoughts to your friend Toni.

A second Christmas Day sounds like fun Mig.

I tend to walk a lot at work, not out of choice but necessity which is why I tend to be achy at the end of the day. Did take the bus to my meeting yesterday, only 2 stops so normally walk it.

    Have a good day everyone.

Quick update from the hospital. It was to get insoles for my shoes as I have flat feet. One of the quickest hospital appointments ever, even managed to be out in half hour so parking was free. The frustrating thing is need to take morning off school as hospital is where I live and not where I work.

Off to work I go, catch up later.

He he he, very funny Aidan. I love your sense of humour. Not been out today, Te**o delivery soon. Hope to catch the bus into town tomorrow morning. :D I can't believe someone wanted her fingernail glued on!!! Did they do it? I'd have wheeled her into theatre and got the anaesthetic ready. :x

Kerrin, I used to get ortho shoes from hospital. they even repair them for you. Hope they help.

Hope Carol is enjoying lots of cuddles.

It's dark enough to put the light on already. It's only half past eleven. :?

Afternoon one and all, thought I would grab a moment and write, before T, biscuit and a nap.

Mig I see you are off to have a second Christmas, how lovely, in Perthshire too, what a lovely place to go. I am very jealous, in fact, don't be surprised if you find me in the car :) Enjoy

Toni, you had a very stressful day, supporting your friend, how lovely of you. I am so sorry to hear that she has had to have a B reconstruction, following B cancer. I do hope things are more stable, I was sending abundant good vibrations last night, to help wherever they can. It is horrid when there is an infection and you are struggling to find an IV site. Typical that one had tissued, but, it cannot be used again. I wonder if some gelofusin, plenty IV fluids and AB's will soon have her feeling a little better. I want to be there, doing my bit. Many (((())))
As you say, despite the constant media concerns on a national basis, about the NHS, when you are acutely ill, the best place to be, is in hospital where everything is to hand.

Kerring, I hope you appointment went ok at the hospital, we would have been there under the cloak, but, as with all appointments we are always there in spirit, that goes without saying in the cafe.

I am not surprised you ache at the end of the day, less than 50 yards and I am done for, to think of the miles I used to do. Such is life though.

Joan, you are a bit like us, well me, I have no siblings, my OH has twin brothers, (his Sister passed away 3 years ago with cervical C). I have one cousin who I am close too and many more that I have not seen in over 30 years....... but we always have the children, aka the pus cats :) They are more than enough to handle, lol.
That's fine being on solpadol and oramorph for a long time, it is needed, as is all our pain relief, good that we have understanding GP's, I am sure some would be saying, oh you should come off these things - yeah, right, you try it. :x

Oh, at least you managed to get free parking Kerring, for the insoles. I have them in my shoes and gel heel cushions too. They are really helpful. I get my insoles from the podiatry dept, when I need them I just ask.
Good that they are going to help :)

Thank you Kath, I do try and keep a sense of humour - laughter is a good tonic, difficult though it is at times.
    Enjoy the bus trip tomorrow.
The nail, no, they told her that she was wasting NHS time and money, just by taking up the triage nurses time, when someone else who did deserve care, was missing out. You would not believe what people come through the door to A & E for, or with...........I thought I had seen most things until I worked in A & E.
Wind, was a fav one, my husband has got wind. :? well, take him home, walk him about and let his wind be free.
It has been a dark, drizzling day, going foggy now, horrid.

Hi there Barbara I guess the co codamols do affect the stomach, can cause "problems" shall we say.
It might well have helped in some way, going to the gym so many times, despite the fact that I could not even get on a treadmill now, let alone set it going :? :o
No worries, I like to help with advice if I can, if not, I would say so. Just things that have worked for me or my patients in the past and or present, lol. Seeing as I am local District Nurse here. lol.
PALS are really good, so helpful when you are either worried or distressed or just need a listening ear.

oh, a new iron, I do like ironing, as I can shuffle about, I have a phoenix gold, they are really good, they have their own little pump inside, to pump out the steam, best one I have had and boy have I been through some irons.

Carol I hope you have come up for air, from all the snuggles :)

Christine, hope you are not too busy and taking care

Elizabeth, that is the same for you too, not over tired and the family ok too. (((())))

right, I had better move, his Lordship will be awake any minute soon for his snack, I can see his ears are in listening mode. Pepe that is, not OH :lol:

We had a right fiasco with the G center visit this morning, will tell you later, was quite funny.

Nose is itching, I have gone mad with the bleach today, nearly choked myself and everyone else too. One likes to be clean.

    Hi everyone.

Happy to be on the train home although my car is parked quite far at the station as I was later in today. Arrived at school late only to hear there was no swimming today. What is it about sports providers not starting the first week back.

I'm happy to be getting insoles. Have worn a cushioning pair for years. Find it quite funny, that when I had bad plantar fasciitis the gp said there was nothing that could be done, Rheumy has one look at my feet and 8 weeks later have appointment for insoles.

Aidan, I can believe what some people go to A and E for.Ive only been twice, for shoulder bursitis and when I had an accident at school when a metre stick connected with my eye (don't laugh although I do now when I think about it)

Enjoy the new iron. I avoid ironing wherever possible.

Gotta run, train is at the station. Time to hike to my car!

    Another super-quick post!!!!

Lucy has a date for the operation. All being well 23rd of THIS month :)

We are all in a state of terror!!

My friend's temp spiked to 40.something last night chest X-ray revealed chest infection. She will not be home until it's sorted. The anaesthetist came and got a line in her ankle Aidan:?

    Diddicat at yours??

Love to you all so sorry to be constantly AWOL!!!

An early morning to one and all.

Kerrin, you have had a long walk to the car and no swimming at school. Do the providers not work the same term times? Seems very annoying for you.

I am glad that the rheumy had more oomph than the GP. PF is a very painful condition, as I well know. Fortunately the physio's first got the ball rolling and referred me to the specialist podiatrist, who sorted things in no time, in fact she pulled the insoles out of the drawer, along with the heel cushions.

ouch, a metre stick in the eye, not nice. No, I am not laughing at all. Things that have happened we can chuckle over, but at the time they are horrid.

We used to laugh in A & E at some of the things people came in with and the excuses they came out with. I will spare you the details, lol.

I hope you have a nice week end and some rest, after a hectic week back at school

Toni, well, I am on the floor, along side you all. Lucy has her op on the 23rd of this month :o  :o Well, that is good and scary and brilliant and stressful plus every other emotion, all rolled into one. There is no emoticon to fit to the news. All will be well, easy to say, but I am sure things will be ok and Lucy will continue to be the utmost trooper that she has already become. A big hurdle none the less....................pop and get one or two of those hug tokens. Pocket duties will be planned and carried out.

Yes, I think Diddicat was here, there was quite a commotion in the bedroom with Cookie shouting at her toys, I think DC was in the mix, throwing the toys, then she was off on her broomstick as the fog was coming in.

Your friend is in the wars, good that the anaesthetist managed to get a line in, the ankle, foot, hands, central line, anywhere really when needs must. I hope IV antibiotics and fluids will work their magic and speed her recovery. The op is enough to contend with, without all the added problems.

Don't worry about being AWOL, we know you are here and there and now with the news of Lucy's op..........we are right there with you. Group Hug

So, today, roll back two days, Mum had appointment at warfarin clinic at the drs for Friday, so we said, we will meet you at the garden center afterwards. Ok, see you then.
Friday, we set off, pop to surgery to pick up my shipping order prescription. Then to vets, to pay the Christmas food bill for Pepe, faint, then head off to the G Center. In we go. one of the ladies we know, (we know them all), oh, your mum said, they had to go, they have an appointment, they have had their coffee's. what do you mean, they had to go, they shouldn't have been, lol.

Anyway, we had coffee and scone, it was very busy, being last day of holidays for the kiddies too.

Left and headed back into town, at same time mum and dad were going back to the garden center, but saw us en route and turned round and followed us to Sains
. Where were you, lol. Bless. Do you need a trolley, oh no, we have done our shopping..... :? ......it was like a carry on sketch.

The plan is that they will come in for coffee and croissants this morning, we will see how we get on with that. We are not intending to go out this week end. A bit of down time and homey things.

Well, I had better move. Love to all, Kath, Christine, Carol, Mig, Elizabeth, Joan and all. Take care it is really foggy here.

Really foggy here too Aidan :?

I think it was definitely Diddicat throwing toys around she's really into that ATM...apparently it's part of the circat training which she is also doing at home. Shame about the extra treats she is consuming though due to lack of available voles.

It rather sounds as though Mum and Dad got the wrong end of the stick thus causing yesterday's fiasco!! Bless them  I am glad they found you and that you will try again today :)

As far as the new shoulder is concerned it is VERY scary. It will be done at Wrightington - Barbara's hospital. I am busy working out what I need to do - prescriptions early etc. It needs to be done and done ASAP so I am very pleased overall.

I know you'll all be with me and thank you so much for the Meer cat group hug!! I love them :)

The thought of being back in hospital though frightens me a LOT. Stomach churns so heaven knows how Lucy feels.

My friend is feeling better - her wife said she was issuing orders so that's an excellent sig :)

Kerrin I am very pleased that you have your insoles I hope they help loads :)

No idea why providers of swimming pools don't start back on time??? Stupid poor kids :(

I went to A&E when I swelled up all over, eyes lips and all....2003 it was. They Drs all came to look and see if they could stick me to the window by my lips!!!

Barbara ((())) thank you :) How are you feeling? How is the back? I bet it's better so you don't think you need surgery anymore  Book in on 23rd then I can visit you when Lucy has had enough of me!!

I have developed a bunged up nose. No cold just the nose. I consider you the expert in this field.

DR prescribed an antihistamine to try first. then a spray with a steroid in it Mometasone?? Have you heard of it?

Hasn't Christine got the family over from far distant lands??? Or have I got that wrong??

Hi Kath - are you off on the bus today? If so stay safe. It's foggy at least not icy anyway.

VERY dark indeed :( Might have the lights on all day

Hi Joan :)What more do you want than your sister and the dogs. I would be happy with my sister and our cats. There is no-one like a sister is there. Mine makes me feel safe.

The consultant said that Lucy will be in less pain too thank you :)

Love to everyone I have missed I hope all is well

afternoon all, foggy and mizzling and indoors in the best place to be. We have the lights on from getting up today, it is so dark outside. Not as cold though, hence the fog I guess.

Mum n Dad just been in for coffee and croissant. They are ok, and we have arranged to meet them on Monday, at the garden center, AFTER mums appointment for her leg review. We will see if we all manage to be in one place at the right time,:lol:

Toni, it must have been DC, throwing things about, if she is in that mood and not finding voles. It is part of the circat training, so pepe leads me to believe.............
Of course the surgery is very scary, I would be just the same. I am sure you are getting everything in order, so that the recovery and physio can go ahead as planned. I was so surprised when you said this month.
Good that your friend is feeling a bit better, lots of vibes and lots of AB's and issuing orders is a definite sign of improvement.

Sorry you have bunged nose, might be worth trying the sterimar mist spray, I swear by it, for blocked noses and general allergy things.
The Meercats are too cute aren't they, bless.

Joan, hope you are ok and take care if you are out and about. Hope Sue continues to improve, hugs to the doggies too.

Carol will be home soon, after millions of cuddles :)

Mig is off to Bonnie Scotland, for a second Christmas, how nice will that be :)

Kath is off on the buses, (wasn't that a series)? I seem to remember Olive with her thick glasses, lol.

Kerrin is hopefully having a bit of a catch up after a busy time this past week. All our schools open again on Monday coming.

Elizabeth, sending hugs and hoping you are as well as can be and that Dan and Lucy are ok.

Barbara, not too knocked out with the prgabalin - Steady away.

Christine, I bet you have been busy this past week too, with family from the antipodes.........

I had better potter a while, we have no water at the moment, they are putting in a new pump system further up the road, to improve our water pressure, maybe we can have a proper shower and not shuffle round to try and get wet. Should be back on soon. As soon as it goes off, you want to use it........

Catch you later, everyone take care XXXX Aidan

Aidan I hope the water pressure does improve after it comes back on :)

I rather think it was Miss DC throwing toys around and she agrees with Pepe's assertion it is part of the training.

The Meer cats are adorable I have to agree. there is something about them....they look so inquisitive :)

I hope that you will succeed in meeting up with Mum and Dad - at the same place and - at the same time!!!

I shall certainly try that nasal spray, I've googled it. I have actually had it since summer 2014 mostly at night. I remember as I was in France and had a spot of bother asking for sinex!!!!

Lights on here all day along with the fire now it feels colder than it is :(

    Love
