    Evening everyone.

Quick post, been a rather painful
Day spent most of it at Guys hospital dental dept with toothache. Long story short, have to have my tooth out tomorrow. Maybe it was the root of all my headache pain.

Hotel booked for tomorrow night, not going to want to travel home after having a tooth pulled.

Oh gosh Kerrin you poor thing. ((())) I very much hope your headaches go along with the tooth.

Yes Barbara Lucy is almost back to pre-cancer weight. Her appetite is definitely back!!!

Tomorrow she sees the hip consultant for a check-up. The 'other' hip has settled now I think it really was suffering from supporting the poorly hip.

Laura Ashley have some lovely soft furnishings too - Lucy's paper was only Homebase, but went up easily so I am told :)

Not many sparrows here sadly. saw a rabbit and a pheasant in the back garden though!!!

Kath I hope the changes the pharmacist has made are enough to sort you out a bit ((()))

Aidan I presume Mum and Dad were well and you all enjoyed the GC?

Shopping for me today, but forgot razors and there's only one here  Lucy will want to do her legs and Paul his chin..... :?

I am most relieved about some of the seedlings they seemed to be taking forever!

I know they have to be careful with meds in hospital, but I'm sure most people under 50kg take two paracetamol unknowingly  It was a chillow I think a gel filed pillow we used it was fab - we got through 2! Also added the cool forehead patches.

I know the kind of cushion you mean.

Of course you must supervise any cleaning done. How could anyone manage without your input!

Lucy sneaked downstairs and popped one or two ornaments around there and Diddicat is already on the bed!!

I think it's been warm today too, but not too warm to have a bakewell with a nice cup of tea :)

    Love

    Toni xxx

Ps can I see you Carol?? I hope you are both ok ((()))

    Evening all
Have been having a few days virtually laptop free except for checking e-mails as I decided I spend far too much time on my laptop and not on other intrests.
Mr turbo and I are both going along fine thank you Aiden for keeping us in your thoughts it has been a hard week since Snowie went  but our minds are much clearer now and although it still hurts that we had to have him put to sleep we are slowly coming to terms with it. although it will take a long time. we seem to have definitely decided that after all our holidays are over this year we will be going to the famous Battersea dogs and cats home where we got our Snowie from to find a cat instead as our home seems very strange without a pet. and as we are both older now a cat would be better for us to manage. this will not be until September time so it will give us a good 6 month after losing doggy. yes Toni we are both doing fine thank you. Lucy looks well considering the op hope her pain and movement it even more improved.

I seem to be having a lot of pain in my ankle at the moment that seems worse on the days I cannot take my water tablet but I have a doctors apt next Tuesday and ask if I can have them every day now.

not been a bad day today here in fact although cloudy it has been quite warm.

well must move or I will get stuck into this armchair and not be able to get out

    love to everyone
    Stay positive always👍xx

I've got a day off on Wednesday so I've booked a massage using a gift voucher from my daughter. Then I got an appointment for a routine mammogram on Friday morning so I'll have to work Wednesday morning then leave early to go for my massage. This afternoon, I got a call from the hospital saying they've had a cancellation on Wednesday for my eyes so have had to leave a message asking if I can rearrange my massage. I might have to put a holiday in to fit everything in. It's always all or nothing.

Evening to one and all - late, as usual, nearly Tuesday now.

Glad you rang the Pharmacist Kath. I recall my Optician saying I would be better with preservative free eye gel, that was a year ago and I have forgotten to ask the GP on umpteen occasions  Benzyl whatchmacall it is the main preservative and can be irritant in itself which kind of defeats the object.

The Carbesistiene is not much good if it has stopped helping with the COPD. Let's hope they can substitute it and a n other drug has more effect.

Hi Barbara, that's ok, you do have good taste, I can tell, hence I want to pinch everything off the mantle piece, lol.:lol:

I am certain Jane is bringing out a new album, in fact I heard her saying, I think it was on Loose Women, when she popped on as a guest the other week. All her own songs, not cover versions as she is usually known for. She is SO camp.
Everyone wants her to host a series of Blind Date, she would be very good, but it would be odd without Cilla, bless her.

I have scoured my blood results, all seems ok, maybe the cholesterol is a wee bit on the high side of normal, otherwise nothing out of kilter.

It is nice to see the sparrows, they are funny when they all arrive and have a big chatter together. They were indeed in decline.
We have Buzzards too, we hear them, then you can see them circling high up on thermals, playing in the sky, wonderful to see, HUGE birds, they live in the Trough of Bowland in the forests and fly out to hunt.

Hi Kerrin, ouch, hugs for when the tooth comes out, lots of local, always ask for more, that's my motto, no, I an still feel it, more lignocaine :)
I am sure your headaches will ease, sore tooth can cause all sorts of pains. You will need to rest afterwards, good idea to book the room.

Hi Toni, I hope the visit with the Consultant goes ok with Lucy. Good that she is eating well and back up to her normal weight. Good that the other hip has settled, compensating is always a royal pain and then some.

Yes, Mum n Dad were ok, Dad was Mr grumps, but we just carry on regardless.
Funny, I had just added razors to my list for today, great minds thinking alike eh.

People don't realise just how toxic paracetamol is, even a fairly small overdose can lead to lasting damage or worse. Things like cold and flu meds, are often taken along with Paracetamol pills, which is very dangerous.

All cleaning is duly noted and inspected in secret, lol. No, OH does a fab job of the places I cannot or should not try and get to.

Never too warm for a cake, help yourself.

Hi Carol, you are more than welcome, I know we all think of each other and how we are all doing, missing people when they are not around and doing what we can to send our support far and wide. I am glad that you are both as ok as can be and it will be lovely to have a puskins from the rescue center. They are always looking for loving homes.
I could not go, I would be bawling and have to bring them all home, I just know it. We would have a house full.

The pain will not be helped if there is excess fluid, worth asking if you can take them every day.

I hope you are not stuck in the armchair - if you are, shout and we will come along with assistance.

Hi Christine, I definitely think you need a holiday day, to get all your appointments sorted. I am already confuddled as to where you should be :lol: I hope both go well, eyes and massage. just tell the boss you cannot be in three places at once.

Well, I had better potter, or I will be stuck, like Carol.

Love to all and those who are busy and not about at present.

I could not resist this n night. From Pepe.com, never knew he had his own website, lol.

Morning everyone. Feel so much better today, headache is almost gone, tooth not too bad either, but it will be gone tonight. Fingers are a bit sore due to holding tight at the dentist. Something Ive always done, but not always had RA.

A good idea to get a cat Mrs Turbo. Quite easy to look after and they don't need walking.

Morning all hope you are all as well you can be.

Aiden I love this group because you can be off of here for weeks and you are still welcomed back. and everyone has such a caring nature. I am linked to another site on facebook to do with the breed of dog Snowie was and when I said I may leave after he was put to sleep I had about 100 answers to all telling me not to leave the group and when I first announced he was gone I had 243 comments of sympathy. It is amazing how much care and concern are in both of these groups. we decided to go to the rescue centre because we know that the cat would have been checked out and well looked after by the centre we in fact got our Snowie there. and yes we must be very careful not to stray into the doggie section. or our resolve may weaken. there are so many of them there you want to take them all home. I think your right the pain is not helped by the water retention.
Luckily I didn't get stuck in the chair :lol:

Kerrin that's what we were thinking a cat is less of a problem than a dog and we have had cats before so we know what they are all about. and I will be nice to give a permanent home to a cat who would otherwise spend their time in the rescue centre.

Joan you are so right there we miss him like crazy and its funny how many times over the past week where we have gone to do something we always did with him and then remember that he is not there anymore. but well we will get there over time.

well must go and do a few things before I go out for a while to the local high street. then back home for a relax until I have to go out to my slimming world weigh in which hopefully is good and I am still in target. :bee:

bye all love to you all :sun:

Thank you Barbara that is nice to know the Staffy group are absolutely great they are all people who love the breed and are very understanding just as everyone on here is. i'm sure we will find a cat to cuddle we must just not stray into the doggie area   and stay on the cattery area. but we will go this particular place as it is where our Snowie came from and we know that they are a very good rescue centre and you know your dog or cat will have been well looked after and probably neutered or spayed and healthy unlike some of these breeders who will not bother with all that before they sell at Battersea they are also assessed as to their suitability for rehoming and what sort of home would be ideal for them. you are also assessed as to weather they think you are the right person to take a particular animal.

Aiden, glad your blood results are ok. I think most of us probably have high cholesterol. I only found out how bad paracetamol was when a girl I knew overdosed on it. Can't remember how many she took but it didn't seem many at all.

Kerrin, I hope the tooth is finally gone now and you're feeling better.

Joan, that's nice that you find walking your dog the best time of the day and that she is so happy.

Carol, yes it is lovely in here no matter if you're in every day or only now and again. Like one big happy family. Hope you got a good result at your weigh in.

Barbara, massage is definitely good for arthritis. I feel good after a massage, less pain and stiffness. My neck is bothering me a lot at the moment so I'm hoping it will help.

I managed to change the date of my massage then went to phone the hospital to confirm my eye scan for tomorrow. I had saved the lady's name but not the number she had given me so contacted the main desk at the hospital. When I explained, that lady had a look and told me she had booked me in for tomorrow. When I got home, I found the number I should have rang so thought I'd double check. Got through after half an hour to be told someone else had the appointment but they would phone me sometime after 7 in the morning to see if they can fit me in.

I'm watching The Secret Life of the Zoo. They said the giraffes spend up to 16 hours a day eating. I want to be a giraffe.

    Good - oh, it's morning already, I am late tonight / today :? :?

Hi Kerrin, so glad you are feeling a lot better today, that's good to hear.
I hope everything went ok at the dentist, despite gripping on to the chair. I used to do that too, now I cross my hands and pretend to be composed :?
    I hope you rest well

Hi Joan, more good news that your heating is working well and long may it continue. We are ok, I am a bit jaded tonight, after doing a bit more walking that I intended.
The puskins are all ok, all three are being sleepy cats at the moment, all in a row. Bless. Pity that cat fur makes you itch. It is usually the "dander" that causes the itches and sneezes
Hi to Sue and hugs to doggies too.

Hi Carol, what lovely words and groups like the A Forum and your friends on FB re kindle ones faith in human nature. We are bombarded with terrible news, terrible events and violence, it is just lovely to know that people do actually care, real people, who lead difficult lives, with pain and disability taking their toll. I am so glad that so many people were so kind when you said that Snowie had passed away. They would not want you to leave the group at all.
Indeed puskins will be well checked out and will have had the necessary jabs etc. Best not to wander into the doggie area - I would have to wait outside. You will know immediately when you meet the right pus cat, they usually choose you :)

So glad that you didn't get stuck in the chair

Hope all went well at Slimming World and you are still on target, all credit to you.

Hi Barbara and your many posts, lol. Don't worry, it happens sometimes. I even read through both and thought, am I reading the same thing
There are rumours that Blind Date is coming back, maybe it is just a rumour, but Jane would be a great host. I guess she has to be careful, balancing tv shows and touring and albums and home life. Another series of cruising would be wonderful though.

Same here with high cholesterol, on my late Dads side of the family. I have been on every version of statins known to man, for the past 20 odd years. (they don't do your muscles and joints any good, but, it's a bit like a rock and a hard place).
You enjoy your wallpaper, why not, it is nice when things are refreshed or changed round. Saying that, it is not something I manage very well, OH loves a change round, but I have to take a while to settle into it again.

Did your wife agree that you have had your flu jab,:lol: what are you like eh.

Hi Christine, yes, paracetamol are dangerous. There is an antidote, but it depends on how long after the drugs were taken and how high the levels in your blood. Too long after and it is not effective.
High Cholesterol is very common, in all body types, shapes and sizes. Even the most health conscious, healthy eating, energetic person, can have high cholesterol. I think the highest I have known was about 30mmols   Mine is 4 point something.
Did you get to have your massage, or is that for another day. Then the eye clinic, they are going to re schedule your appointment as they gave it away to another person.
So, you want to be a Giraffe - lol, 15 hours a day, eating, that's some going. I don't feel so bad now, lol.

I hope everyone else is ok, Toni, Mig, Elizabeth and all. (not forgetting miss Slimkins).

We went to the BIG tesco today, had brunch in Costa, emmental and mushroom toasties and a lemon muffin, all the drinks were free, as I had loads of points on my card :)
Walked too far in the store, all the buggies and wheelchairs were in use and we had not taken mine. I kept stopping and leaning on the ends of the aisles while OH nipped off in various directions. Was glad to get home and unpacked.

Time for me to move, I am already set like a stone, so I will walk, chair shaped, into the kitchen.............

Off to my Cardiologist today, after lunch. Not sure if that will be at home, or out........will see.

Take care one and all. N Night XXXX Aidan

The tooth is gone, but it's far from better. The pain is still pretty bad but I think at last it's starting to ease. Have a busy day at school with finals of netball competition, so could be a challenge.

Tom and Jerry are rescue cats, not from Battersea but foal farm in Biggin Hill. Lots of checks before we go them including microchipping, neutering and checking our house for suitability. Ten years later still going strong.

Time to get up, think it's smoothie for breakfast as can't face solid food yet.

    Morning!

Kerrin - I had a root canal filling once it was soooo bad and it took weeks for the pain to subside completely. Every day it will get a little easier.

Best of luck with the netball finals :)

Morning Aidan :) That owl picture was sweet. We are all friends in here :)

Late in for me as we saw the hip consultant yesterday for Lucy. He is really pleased with her and will continue to monitor her hip and the long bone in the same leg for any deterioration in the AVN. Sun was shining on the way home and we were all happy :)

Best of luck at cardio. Anyone free can join me under the cloak??? Daisycat is coming and planning to report back to Pepe and the girls :? I hope she doesn't over-dramatise she has a habit of doing that.

I am avoiding statins like the plague last time I had my cholesterol checked it was ok, but you can't count on it

No spare buggies at Tesco? That is a bit off really. Those big tescos are HUGE!

I hope you feel better soon. I lived on those mushroom and emmental toasties when Lucy was an inpatient at the QE!!

Mistress Slimkins is doing just fine. Just a small hairball to clear away

Christine - I hope your neck is a bit easier today? If she massages your neck make sure it's gentle. My friend ended up proper in trouble after she had a deep tissue one once when hers was a bit iffy to start with

Massages are fabulous. The physio always starts Lucy off with one :)

I hope you get that appointment ok for today - best of luck.

Giraffes must need a lot of food. I hope they never get bad necks that would be dreadful

Carol Battersea at good and firm with potential adopters no way will they let someone unsuitable have an animal from them!

Our local staffy rescue up here is in a secret place so no bad people can try to get one for fighting :(

Being in Staffordshire we have lots here almost every other dog! I have yet to meet a nasty one myself though.

You need a lovely soft lap-cat whose owner has maybe died or something like that. they are clean animals too. ideal.

I am so glad the group on fbook are so lovely too like in the café

Barbara I would love a mobile masseur too (a lady) I know someone who has one once a fortnight to very good effect.

I only ever buy Laura Ashley in the sale too!! It is lovely though :)

Lucy is looking so good now I think the hip consultant is really pleased with her. She's just...well....so much less fragile somehow now.

You better ring the new GP back incase it's to be on the list for the flu jab next year don't want to be missed out!!

    Bless him ;)

Joan thank you all went really well he is going to see her in 6 months make sure the AVN in her hip and thigh bone is staying ok and behaving :)

My Sis in law is allergic to cats too and if she persists ends up with wheezing.

    I hope I didn't miss anyone :?

    love and ((()))

Netball was cancelled due to rain so came home early. Tooth is still
    Extremely painful.

Well done to Lucy, she is doing so well .

My cats were rescued from a house with about 30 cats and that's about all I know. But they were well looked after but timid. Jerry especially needed a quiet house. Also rescue centre wouldn't give me kittens or one cat as I worked part time. We used to have Staffies.

Time to catch up with some sleep!

Good evening, (just), to one and all. What a bright and lovely day it has been too.

Kerrin your puskins sound adorable, I see that the netball was cancelled due to the rain, oh dear, we were bathed in sunshine, one country, so many weather variations.

I hope your tooth pain has eased. Sometimes if you rinse your mouth gently with soluble aspirin for a minute or so, then spit out, that can ease the pain a bit, as it is absorbed well by soft tissue. Just a thought as it might help. ((()))

Hi Toni, I am so glad the Consultant was pleased with Lucy's progress, very good to hear.

Thank you for being under the cape, there was a bit of rustling going on, I guess it might have been miss Slimkins, does she like butter? If so, I think she was attacking the scones.

We had our usual good natter, as I have known him for so long. Everything is the same on my ECG, which is good, may need to juggle some of the cardio medicines to reduce the angina, which is random to say the least.
He always writes down the list of meds I take, I always give him a copy of my repeat, but he is "old school" and likes to make sure he has everything written down. The list is so long he nearly ran out of paper   He did say, there is enough there to flatten the biggest horse  But, you need every one of them.
So, we carry on, he knows that my joints and the pain and neuropathy is getting worse, as he had to launch me up from the couch, after my ECG, I said, we need a team of builders and some rope.:lol:

We had a light brunch at the GC en route, it was packed to the gunnels and we had to wait a fair while for a table. I was rattling my crutches and getting edgy, I think some people finished up quickly, to ensure we had a table and a proper seat. Bless them.

Those toasties at Costa are really yummy aren't they, again, they have mystical powers, to make you want more.

Oh dear, your post vanished Joan, I bet it is in User Control Panel at the top, often under drafts. It is annoying when things vanish like that.
You have had rain too. Oh dear.
Love to you Sue and the doggies. Thank you, today was ok as you will have seen from above.

Happy Birthday for yesterday Elizabeth :cake: I hope you had a lovely day and thank you Barbara for keeping an eye on the Birthdays, I would be hopeless, we are bad enough with family

I am sure the GP won't ban you from the surgery, lol.

You will have read about my cardio visit, thank you for asking :) Lunch was v nice, once we were seated. I only had one coffee, I didn't want the ECG going squiffy.
My cardio said my cholesterol was lower than 6 months ago, so that is good.
Yes, it can be too low, mine was down to 3, some years back, we need a certain amount of cholesterol in our system, 2 is quite low, but not dangerous.

Calling the forum a Sanctuary is the perfect word Barbara - I liken it as a link to sanity, as sometimes, days can be hard and very frustrating, we are all more or less in the same position in life, with what we have wring with us and we all care how each other is feeling.
I noticed the secret life of the zoo on catch up, I was telling OH that you wanted to be a Giraffe as they eat for 15 hours a day,:lol:

I hope everyone else is as ok as can be, Mig, Christine, Elizabeth SW and all.

Sunshine is on the cards for today, so after coffee and scones with mum n dad OH wants to get into the garden and I have a date with the washing machine and dryer, beds, cats beds, everything is having a wash.

This one is for you Barbara. Everyone take care and rest well. XXX Aidan

Evening everyone (or is it morning now)

Can't sleep due to tooth pain and can't take any more painkillers for another couple of hours, I guess I won't be going into school. Getting worried about this now as pain has not subsided a bit since the tooth was removed.

Not sure about aspirin, it's the one painkiller I was told not to use due to its blood thinning properties.

All this talk about food. Really could do with some right now but it's hard to eat with a sore mouth!

Enough moaning from me, need to try and sleep.
My puskins have their moments but have brought joy into my house for the last 10 years.

Aww Kerrin :( Is there any chance your tooth cavity might be infected? If it's no better after the weekend would you be able to see someone? GP/Dr even?

All my cats over the years have totally added to our lives. I wouldn't be without them, but Daisycat has been my only 'only' cat if you know what I mean :)

OH Gosh Aidan! Miss Slimkins does indeed adore butter  So she had butter out of all the scones?!! Ooops!

Of course we would be under the cape. Actually they were quite quiet for once. I am very glad to hear that the ECG was the same as last year :D Bless him he sounds lovely your cardio'. I expect you are not the only person he helps up, but one of the younger ones.

I hope the tweak with the angina meds helps. VERY good to hear the cholesterol is actually down!!

I always finish up quickly in cafés if I see someone who needs a seat so they probably were being kind.

Those costa toasties are fabulous - emmental I adore - so France!

I too intend to get in the garden - maybe not for long, but I must do something!!

I like Barbara's picture how sweet are giraffes :)

Morning Barbara Aren't there more than one type of cholesterol one being good for us?

Those doggie rescue programmes break my heart as do the zoo ones although I do watch them if I can. Tia records the rescue ones and I warn her if there is a sad case on.

Funny you should mention it, but Paul just booked a holiday in Tenerife for us and Lucy the week after the 3 months you have to wait post-op! Charley is considering coming with us too. It was cheaper to book for 4 than 3....Then France in the summer no date yet sorted though.

Joan don't worry about the quick post so long as you are ok that's all we care about :) I hope you have some sunshine today :D

I am so upset I missed Elizabeth's birthday yesterday

Aw thank you for my birthday wishes. I'm sorry I haven't been around lately. Over a week ago I started with the bad cold and sickness. Dan has been off school nearly 2 weeks with the same, Lucy is just about to go back after 7-8 weeks of illness but is getting anxious about returning after such a long time and I've still got to finish the appeal on the new transport while feeling so tired.

So I've got Medusa hair and a load of housework to do.

Happy Birthday to your Daughter Toni xxx
Hope you are all doing well.
