Oh my, I am so cold. t110007 t110007 t111055 t111055 Wet and windy, so haven't been out. two woolies, and fluffy socks, but should have put thicker joggers on.
We've already altered the upstairs clocks and those in the kitchen. Most of the others automatically alter themselves.
Barbara, a stabbing, how awful. I dread watching the news, wherever you look there are murders, attacks, robberies.
Toni, I hope the cloak of many rooms can find you in Hungary. My appointment is 9am.
Hope you all like potato cake. I think I might grate some cheese on it.
INGREDIENTS
3 medium baking potatoes
1/2 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 tablespoons cooking oil
1 clove garlic, minced
PREPARATION
Rinse and peel potatoes. Slice thinly (we used a mandolin set to 1/8-inch thickness) and soak slices in cold water to remove excess starch.
Melt butter in a large skillet over low heat and sauté garlic for 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
Remove potatoes from water and pat dry with a paper towel.
Place dry potatoes in a large bowl and pour 3/4 garlic butter over them, reserving the rest for later use. Season generously with salt and pepper and toss until everything is evenly coated.
Add oil to the skillet and heat until it's shimmering and ripply. Remove pan from heat and add potatoes in a spiral formation; the potatoes on the bottom of the skillet will be the top of the "cake." Once all the slices are in the pan, press it flat like a cake.
Place pan over low heat and cover with a lid for 15 minutes, adding the remaining butter and loosening the edges as the cake cooks. Wipe away moisture that collects on the lid occasionally so the potatoes get crispy as they cook.
Lift edges of cake and check that it is browned; potatoes should be fork tender. Invert cake onto a large plate.
Add more oil to the pan if necessary to keep the cake from sticking. Slide the cake back into the pan with the unbrowned potatoes on the bottom, and cook an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
Cut cake into wedges and serve hot.

Catch you later, love and sparkles t4591 t115006 t110007 t110007 Aidan XXXXXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Kath it's the coldest day yet! We had a little snow too.
I hope you can keep warm enough l have a blankie around me, but have to go to a Halloween do later in a mar-bloomin-quee! Help!
Thanks for the potato cake recipe l might have a go at that too
Joan thanks Lucy is fine going to do us all Halloween make up in a bit!!
Barabara l hope everyone is ok after that dreadful stabbing. God Bless them all
Sister Euphemia came to choir so we coped without you.
Go Niamh super-cleaner!
Aidan Sleek was proper queasy! Mother explained that you do t really go to a rainbow droplet - they come to you
I think she's got it now
They got some fabulous frosted dew and mist this morning apparently and the nymphs were thrilled.
We are out tonight at a Halloween do. Sleek has disconnected her broomstick so l can borrow it!! What an honour.
I hope you are having a Fabulous Birthday!!! A missing post? Thought so.
Glad to hear you're having a lovely day with B Tosca and meeting up with frirnds t69044
Sunny here after an icy start and snow in between!!
Love to everyone

Hi to all -
Thank you for the kind birthday wishes. I / we, have had a lovely day with the longest lunch ever umpteen potters about, between coffee soups, cakes etc etc. All very nice indeed. t4591 t4591
I am so cross the long post I made last night, just vanished, I previewed it, then posted, then today it isn't there. I had written a dissertation, as I often do.
I won't even try and go back over everything I scribe'd.
I know that Barbara was having her flu jab on Sat, she didn't make it to choir, but Sister Euphemia was there instead. They were caught up in the frightening attack on the council workers, not far from them, the Police were there, keeping people away. How terrible, what a world we live in.
Toni is looking forward to a few days away in Hungary, to meet up with family. Auntie Kari is feeling better, as is Lucy. Sleek had been up to Pendle with Mother, then down in the ravine. The picture of the rainbow was wonderful t115006 t115006 I bet you wondered where I was, having missed out on our breakfast
Mother has had words and Sleek seems to be quite happy that rainbow dew, finds you, when you least expect it. No need to go loop the loop, chasing rainbows, bless her heart t115006 t115006
Carol is knitting like fury, at every opportunity
Kath has been putting out some wonderful soups and recipes for us to enjoy, wearing lots of thermals socks and the like, because it has been bloomin freezing t110007 t110007 t110007
So, I will start afresh, my little head will be in a spin if I try and remember everything.
Hi Joan and Sue, so glad that Sue's sore mouth is getting better, bless, it is not pleasant when the local wears off. I hope the info helped, there is a lot of information and support online, to help people who are going to have dentures either full, or partial.
Hope the heating is working well, it is very cold, the wind was biting today.
Aunt and Uncle went back home to Swindon, arrived safely, after quite a long journey. Roadworks on the M6 etc.
Hi Barbara, glad to hear that you have had your flu jabs, finally. Was it a bit of a bun fight at the surgery
I have just altered the clocks that need moving, the rest do it on their own bat. I have forgotten before and gone into work an hour early, ended up working 13 hour shift
Did all the polishing get done, bless her, your little helper is a trouper
I did put breakfast out, but it was taken away by the Gremlins - I was horrified.
I have not read the local news, about the stabbings. I read of the mass shooting at the Synagogue in Pittsburgh - just horrific.
Hi Kath, the news is just one dreadful act, after another. We don't watch the news, I cannot bear it. I do read the Mail online, well, look at the headlines, most of it is gossip, but there are a few decent articles.
It was super cold today, a lazy wind that blew right through my troosers
I think we are in for a few days of cold weather now. Frosts at night and not much better during the day. t110007 t110007
The potato cake was just perfect, thank you. The extra mature cheddar was lovely on top, all crispy and bubbling
Oh, Toni you are at a Halloween do, in a big marquee, oh my, grab a fleece or two t110007 t110007 I know my back goes into spasm if I get really cold, it is horrid.
Mother was saying that you were going on Sleeks broomstick, wow, you are honoured, to fly on her broom t115006 t115006 steady away
You had SNOW, oh my, just seen quite a few places had a fair dusting. More on the eastern side of the country and in Sleeks village   t110007
Had a lovely lunch at the GC with my bestie from years ago. There are quite a few pics on FB, she is a demon with the phone camera, like, will you STOP taking pictures
Hi to Carol, busy knitting away............hope you are ok, Love the pic on FB

Aidan I am very pleased to hear you had a lovely birthday!!
This is the café choir (so far comprising of myself, Barbara and Sister Euphemia - extra members always welcome!) singing happy birthday....
Sleek informed me that Mrs Darcey came through the gate and the 3 of them sang happy birthday to you at siesta time
I can imagine it - she had been practising here...ouch!!!
She told me that Mother told her that maybe some rainbow dew will find her and best not to make herself travel sick. I think she was quite relieved as she had to lie down for some time afterwards.
Fabulous frosted dew collected this morning I am told t115006
I did wonder where you were, but sometimes life does get in the way so assumed that was it.
I have used the 'extra hour' today to search online for activities to do in Hungary
It was pretty chilly in the marquee, but there was a heater and guess who got there early to stand by it?!!
I will pop a photo on in a mo.

Think this year is going to be a good one for potions,I was given a mini cauldron so I put some of the base potion in it but unfortunately it ate right through the bottom.
We have a cruise booked for end of May next year Barbara ,its our golden wedding in March and we decided to go on the cruise instead of having a big party we are doing the Baltics.Everything else is on hold as hubby needs his right hip replacing we have started on the long road for that happening he has had x-rays and his first hospital app is next week.0 -
Hello Barbara Kathleen Aidan Toni.
Barbara that's the flu jab over for another year Niamh is good I bet she enjoy's her self.

Morning - yes, morning to all. Might as well use a bit of the extra hour to write a little.
Washer and dryer busy away, bathrooms "done".
It's pretty chilly out there t110007 looks nice, with the sun shining though.
We had a lovely time with our friends yesterday, thank you Toni. The cafe choir is very good, a rousing Happy Birthday chorus - Sister Inviolata was there as was Mother Superior t4591
I wondered what the racket was at siesta time, with the three of our amigo's "singing" happy birthday   Bless.
The rainbow dew will find them, far better to have Sleek less queasy, she did look a little green round the gills the rest will have done her good.
An early start for Sleek and Mother, for the frosted dew. Mother was dressed up like someone out of Dr Zhivago fake fur of course. She could hardly fit into the side car
It has been a busy week, with family and us here there and everywhere. Today is a "normal" day, just us, all being well, at home One of our neighbours might pop in, with a card, but I think that will be it.
Rang Dad, he had not remembered to put the clocks back, so he is busy doing that.
I hope you have a lovely time in Hungary, it is a wonderful place, by all accounts t4591 t115006 Lots of pics
The marquee looked really good, very well decorated and spooktacular :? :? Glad you managed to hog the heating, they can be super draughty places..............
szívesen - for the breakfast, glad you enjoyed it
Your ickle Unicorn is gorgeous t115006 t115006 as is Mr Pheasant. They have such beautiful coloured feathers.
Hi Mig, oh, my, that is a strong potion, if it ate its way through the mini cauldron   no wonder we have to steer clear when we add "things" into it. I will search for more things to put in.............
The cruise sounds wonderful, around the Baltic sea, for your Golden Wedding. Lovely time of year too, not overly hot, but pleasant.
I hope Mr Mig doesn't have to wait overly long for his new hip. Will that be at QMC or City Hospital?
Hi Joan and Sue, hope you are keeping warm, I see there is a radiator that is not working again, this time in the living room. Sue will be on the phone tomorrow morning I am sure. You should be able to go into all the rooms in your house.
Flu jabs done and dusted, that's good
Thank you, I had a lovely day, now need to have a quiet day to recover, before we start the next week of appointments..........
Carol will be using the extra hour to catch up with her knitting. The needles are red hot with all the knitting going on
Well, I will potter along, have an earlier lunch today.

So far, we've had sun, m0150 rain, t111055 wind , and all three together. m0150 t111055 t110007 UGH! So I have my thicker joggers on, a T shirt, 2 jumpers and a cardi - and of course my woolie socks.
Toni, what a beautifl photo of Mr Pheasant. Chris liked it too, and asked where you live. I said oop north.
Aidan, thank you for Strawberry Filled French Toast, with Pecan and Syrup for breakfast. Tea is Lemon and Garlic prawns. Delicious with wholemeal bread and best butter, or maybe toast.
Joan, I get too hot wearing socks in bed, but wear them during the day. My duvet is a 14 TOG."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Evening all
Its jolly cold here and t110007 t110007 and a little t111055 not nice at all. had some good news but also some not so good news over the last few days firstly the not so good little Rubie is suffering Bronchiolitis so is quite poorly. Graycie has a nasty cold as well. The good news is that GD has her gall bladder op on Wednesday at last so we are hoping all goes well with them both. also our youngest daughter has been notified that she has a special award for leadership next Sunday at the St John brigade annual awards ceremony I will be going with her as her guest. Knitting is taking up a lot of my time at the moment. today has been quite relaxing really, I did go to church well wrapped up of course. but after cooking and having dinner I spent rest of afternoon relaxing with a nice nap.
Lots has happened in here lately so i am not even going to try to remember it all. Still Knitting at all available moments when I get them. all the usual things happened this week and we had open morning again at church yesterday very quite as usual which is funny really as it is in a very busy main road. :? :?
Aidan Having missed your Birthday I will now say BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you hope you had a good time I did see the pictures on fb. hope B and dad are ok. I'm hoping that having my dentures will be the best thing for me too so can I have cloak duties on Thursday please for the last appointment with the dentist.
Kath our duvet is 12 tog its when I have to get out of bed to go to the toilet I get cold the bathroom is like a freezer but I soon warm up again. I do this at least twice every night its the taking of water tablets and drinking a lot that dose it.  hope the Spids are being kept under control by Florence and Clarence.
Mig wow the potion has burnt a hole in the mini caldron I put a few nasties in with a long pair of tongs but I kept well clear. we too are planning going on a cruise in July 2020 for our golden and will hopefully be on the cruise on the actual day of our Anniversary. hope you enjoy your cruise. hoping Mr Mig doesn't have too long to wait for his new hip.
Toni I love your little unicorn and Mr pheasant look very majestic. good that you found the heating in he marquee the decoration look great.
Joan Sorry to hear your heating is playing up again it's not right hope Sue is ok after the dentist I have my last appt on Thursday and I should get my dentures then as all my impressions have been done. and I tried the dentures out at my last appointment. I am only having partial dentures to replace a few teeth that are missing and one broken one that will be taken out on Thursday.
It's now time for a little potter and a cuppa
love and sparkles to all t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006
Ps sorry don't know what happened but typing has all gone all large and bold part way through and I am not going back to re type it so I will leave it. :roll:Stay positive always👍xx0 -
Hi to all on a very frosty night, everything is white over, including the handrails on the decking t110007 t110007 Pendle will be white over today, so I am guessing Mother and Sleek will be hunting frosted dew. Well, Sleek will be hunting and Mother will be sitting in the side car, like Nanook of the North.
I see you were well wrapped up Kath, Mother would be proud, with all those layers and fleeces etc. Don't blame you. I struggle when it gets really cold, as I cannot bear long sleeves, I have a lightweight jacket, cardigans smother me...........I must be an oddity :?
A duvet would smother me as well. A duvet cover and a fleece blanket, that is more than enough, unless it is super wintry weather. The heating goes down to 18 ish overnight.
We are up in t'north mi duck, up ere in Lancs, along with Barbara who is not a million miles from us.
Lemon and garlic prawns, I will certainly give them a try, thank you kindly. Definitely with bread and lots of best butter, none of that dreadful looky likey fake butter
Hope any ouchies are not too bad t115006 t115006 We will be under the cloak for you this mornings appointment t4591 t4591
Hi Barbara - don't worry, thank you for the Birthday wishes. We were terrors, my friend and I. She was starting to sing christmas carols while we were sat in Santa's study in the photo's. I said, will you give up
Glad the flu jabs are done, they soon get through them, a bit like playing darts, NEXT
I must have a read, see what else has been said about the stabbings at the library. One still in hospital, I wish them well, asap.
So it is your Golden Wedding next year, we will have to drop big hints to Mr B, cruises, diamonds, gold ingots, that should be a starting list.
I hope you enjoyed your Sunday lunch, Nothing wrong with being spoiled.
Hi Carol Oh bless, poor Rubie, bronchiolitis is a horrid viral infection, makes it difficult to breath as well as the coughing. It does clear up of its own accord, usually in a week or two. Sending her lots of sparkles and hugs, to get better asap t115006 t115006 t4591
Some for Graycie as well, who has a rotten cold.
Then your GD will need lots of sparkles too, with her cholecystectomy on Wednesday. It is all things medical at the moment.
Well done to your youngest Daughter on her award for leadership from St John's, lovely that you will be going to the ceremony as her guest.
Lots of knitting, as I imagined, needles always at the ready. Glad you wrapped up warm for Church and then had a lovely nap in the afternoon, after lunch. Wasn't it dark early, 5pm and it was nearly pitch black
Thank you for the Birthday wishes, glad you liked the pictures on FB. We had a lovely time.
We will be under the cloak on Thursday t4591
Don't worry about the writing going large and bold, it is easier for reading it has happened a few times, on various occasions

I'm having a bit of a sulk. It's just too cold and I had to get up super early to be ready for transport which only just got here in time. Hi to all, a very chilly day, thick frosts this morning t110007 m0150 nice and sunny though.

I think Sleek glazed over a bit when Mother was explaining the mysteries of the solar system and the universe  :? they must have taught it at Hogwarts when Mother was a pupil :? :?
Hi Joan and Sue, I did have a very pleasant Birthday thank you. A very leisurely lunch with friends and a lazy evening.
Hope you are warm and cosy. Did you ring the engineer, to fix the rads again. It is beyond a joke, shall we start a petition
You have a sulk if you want to Kath. It was very cold this morning and we were all up with the larks, to come with you to the rheumy appt. It didn't take long at all, no sooner where we there, than we were back in bed again
So nurse is thinking about things..............right, ok. How long does she have to think, before you get to know of any possible changed to treatment????
I should think you did get a cup of T, the least anyone can do on a freezing cold day like today. Heating is on here too, toasty warm and staying that way.
We are on a healthy oatmeal day today, but, it is very good for you and slow release energy. Yours looks wonderful, thank you. I have had a hypo this pm, so I am all over the goodies.
Hi Barbara, hope you are ok, keeping warm. Some ((())) for you and yours, some sparkles too t4591 t115006 they never go amiss.
Hi to Carol, AKA Mrs Knitting your fingers will be sore. Hugs for the poorly little ones and for the Op on Wednesday ((()))
Right, I had best be moving. I need a comfy chair and some more biscuits, before siesta time.
We went to the GC for brunch, it was really busy, some of the schools must be off at different times, as a lot of children were in with their families.
I had egg and hash brown muffin and a scone. Not sure why I have had a hypo, but it is passing now, after choccies and anything sweet.
Love to all, hugs and sparkles t4591 t115006 will pop back later. It is nearly dark, not even 5pm yet  XXXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

Think it will be city bubbles as that’s where we are to go to see a surgeon it’s easier for us to get to.
My daughter and I went to see Bohemian Rhapsody it’s a must see film I laughed cried sang and clapped ,will take hubby to see it.

Hi to all on another VERY frosty night. It was white over on the roof tops of the park homes by 8pm. t110007 t110007 Snug and warm inside, they are so well insulated.
Hi Barbara The temp does shoot down by 5pm, when it is going dark. It isn't that long ago since we were melting, how time flies. We will remember this past summer as a real scorcher. Now, what will winter bring :? :?
((())) for the catarrh to ease - but good that your sinuses are behaving at the moment.
No heating at night   minus 6, goodness, Mr B needs to fix your thermostat I can imagine your bedroom is cooler, if the garage is beneath you. We have our heating on 18 .5 at night, so most of the night it is off anyway, as it keeps warm for a long time.
A 13 tog quilt, it must be cold
Feet were done in a flash, cannot say the podiatrist was a bundle of joy, not seen him before. Put your feet up on the leg rests :? - no, I can only do one leg at a time, or my back will go into spasm - oh, well that makes it difficult, I will have to raise the chair (press a button). Tough, I aint putting both feet up. Stony silence. I was in and out as quick as possible. Won't be going to see him again, I will make sure of it.
GC was busy, loads of children in, they stagger the half term holidays here. Must remember that in future.
Well done on buying your first Christmas presents, we have two, for Dad, that's all so far.
You are welcome to the extra sparkles t115006 t115006 free for everyone
Hi Mig City Hospital, my fav place of nursing, many moons ago. Not sure what it is like now, a bit different I would guess. Oh that corridor was SO long, used to walk miles in a day
I have heard rave reviews of Bohemian Rhapsody, glad you were singing and clapping amidst laughter and tears
I hope you are all safe and sound in Hungary Toni, meeting up with family. The weather is warmer there by the looks, 20 degrees or so.
Hi everyone else, Carol, Christine, Kerrin, Elizabeth, DD, SW, Toady and all
Time I was pottering again. I am chair shaped after such a short time.
