Oh my, Sauteed Mushrooms with Truffle Salt Crostini, yummy yum yum. Thank you Aidan, will save the High Tea until later to get me pinkies loosened up. By eck lad, ya dunna do things by half. Couldn't someone build a car around you? Save all that trotting to and fro. Aidan, Where we live, I hear language that would make a trooper blush, so you go ahead - I'll stick me fingers in me ears if it gets too colourful. Maybe you should have wheels fixed to your bed with a seat for B at the front.

Splosh to the rescue Toni, washing our blankies and softening them, and cutting down on plastics too. You're an inspiration to us all. t4591 t115006 t69044

    Garlic mushrooms on ciabatta

    INGREDIENTS
    3 tablespoons olive oil

    1 clove garlic, crushed

2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley

1/2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

4 portabello or field mushrooms (250-280g/9-10oz total weight)

2 good-sized slices of ciabatta bread

Additional chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, to garnish (optional)

Combine 2 tablespoons olive oil with the garlic, parsley, lemon zest and black pepper in a small bowl; set aside to infuse for 20 minutes.
Preheat grill to medium-high. Lightly brush base of mushrooms with remaining oil; grill, gill-side down, for 5 minutes.
Turn mushrooms gill-side up. Brush with garlic oil mixture; grill for 3-4 minutes or until mushrooms are tender and sizzling. Meanwhile, toast ciabatta slices in toaster.
Serve mushrooms on top of ciabatta toast; drizzle with any escaped juices. Garnish with parsley, if desired.
    Variations
Try serving mushrooms on wholemeal or granary toast instead of ciabatta.

Afternoon to all - a gentle breeze today, little rain, considerably improved on yesterday

It was a horrid experience Toni, we are NOT going back to that dealership, ever, never at all.............

I am glad Tia got her replacement for the stolen and trashed one. Oh yes, they get commission on finance and will try everything to get you to sign up. No way.

B is on the hunt again. I think we are off to Burnley again tomorrow, to another dealers. Some reviews are bad, some are glowing, so I guess you have to go see for yourself. We are way too old and wise, to have the wool pulled down in front of our eyes. If we no like, we walk away.

Three people we spoke to yesterday, had family members who had had their mobility component slashed, having to give up their cars. They were all appealing.

You are welcome to the afternoon T, pinkies looking good :)

Mother has been sorting in the wardrobe, bags of blankies for the cats protection league. There are two vacuums in that wardrobe, a couple of shoes, the rest are in the hall cloak cupboard. Oh don't mention fishy breath :lol::lol:

Mother and Sleek put some magic squares in my bed, when the maids were in, (AKA Bill). They whizzed in when he wasn't looking.

We went into town, B nipped in for Dads repeat, then held the receptionists to ransom, re the letter from my GP. It only went to him on the 10th of Jan   it has been there two weeks    I know he will be on with it and pretty sharpish too, thank Heavens. B said, we have been phoning every few days.
Anyway, he will get it done now. Dad said he felt quite a bit better, but was still a bit slow going. He had a take away dinner from the T room, for heating up later. :)

Breakfast was yummy, ideal for me too, love mushrooms. t4591

I am liking the look of Splosh products, I am guessing Booths might stock it, they like things like that. I am itching to try it. We need a full verdict on the whites results, must have the whitest of shirts. m0150 m0150

Talking of shirts, all pressing done, troosers as well. Happier now the maids have been through :D:D:D B knew things were getting on my wick.

Mig, I see you are putting a few pounds on, that's good, sometimes we can loose too much, I say we, well, I did, a long time ago, I lost over 9 stone, but my face was very gaunt. Not now, it is like a water melon  :lol:
Glad you enjoyed the skating and the chinese meal. You are in the wardrobes as well, clearing out, it must be that time of year

Very good to hear that your Grandson has been accepted at Cambridge, excellent news. t4591 :D:D You have a big anniversary this year too, lovely :)

Hi Joan and Sue, our make of car would be too expensive for us to buy, hence we are hunting, on the WWW, we must have seen every car, for 50 miles around.  just keep narrowing the search down and whittling the makes down as well.

Hope you cold is getting better soon, we don't want it going on for weeks. t4591 t4591

It was a bit wild yesterday Barbara, as we know, all too well t111055 t111055 t110007 t110007 t110007

Took us a good while to thaw our and dry out, in Costa (which has had a massive face lift and re fit, at the big Tesco's. It looks amazing now)

So you have to face them again, in two years, so do I, :? :? they seem to think I will be all better by then, same for you. Obviously there is a miraculous cure for us all. :? :?

Ohh, the loo at the car dealers, oh my. I am trying not to dwell on it, I have to bleach something, every time it comes to mind  :lol:

I always have T tree wipes in the car and milton hand gel in my bag.

Hope you had a nice time at the GC :)

Glad you enjoyed the goodies Kath, we don't do too bad in the cafe really.

There were naughty words yesterday, believe me.  After so many years of nursing, I have heard some very choice words indeed :lol:

Yes, perfect, build a car round me, bed shaped, the one from Bed knobs and Broomsticks would be ideal. :D:D:lol::lol:

Garlic mushrooms on ciabatta, perfect, thank you.

Hi to Carol, hope you and yours are as ok as can be. Thinking of you all t4591 t115006

Better have a potter round, cup of T and then a nap all being well. Maybe I will actually doze a while, stranger things have happened.

Will call back later, in the meantime, love and sparkles to all t4591 t115006 Take care XXXX Aidan

    Hi to all -

Quite mild tonight, but I see it is getting colder this week and next, with talk of beasts from the east :? :?

Hope everyone is as ok as can be.

Carol we will be there under the cloak today, quietly supporting and thinking of you all. t4591 t4591 A time of reflection for everyone.

Nice to see you on FB Barbara :D:D:D lovely pic :)

Sleek came over to sit with Mother at nap time Toni. I think they cast a spell of dozing on me, so they could eat sweets and fling litter

They enjoyed the chat with the Nymphs on the crystal ball. They are due back home to the ravine at the week end. Not quite sure how they got there, or how they get back, something magical, so I am informed t115006 I would guess Silver has a little hoof in that one.

I see the eclairs have gone down in numbers, is someone eating them for breakfast.:lol::lol: and why not I say.

We have one dealership to visit today, in Blackburn, (Barbara knows of it, this time we are not going to turn off into the hospital)

I have cut back on two tramadol today, but have them in my bag, ready for todays foray into the car world.

Well, I had best be pootling around, keep the bones moving, in what order, I wonder sometimes :? :?

Leaving lots of love and sparkles to all t4591 t115006 t115006
Take care, will be in later..............XXX Aidan

A beautiful morning, lovely sunshine, wind just a tad nippy. We've been down to the Co-op, which means a short sit on the benches. Bird song was gorgeous. m0150

Mig, how wonderful for your grandson to be offered a place at his first choice of Cambridge University. Well done him. :D

Aidan, I hope your car foray is more successful and much less stressful than the first one. t115006 t115006 t115006 Chocolate Eclairs - haven't seen'em Aidan - honest. They were wonderful erm so I've been told. Maybe A slice of Vegan Carrot Cake will make up for it. Quick, before Toni snaffles it all. Nu Nu on the way.

Ah Joan, can I have a cuddle with Lexi? Oh her hair is silky soft. Sorry if Lexi is boy. We watched a program about Woolly Mammoths yesterday (recorded) and they found a body deep in the Siberian permfrost. It had beautiful long golden hair, even though it had died millions of years ago. So beautiful.

Everyone keep warm, and enjoy lots of hot drinks and food.

Afternoon to all - well, at least we didn't get soaked through or blown over in a gale. t110007 t111055

Hi to Carol and family. t4591 t4591 Our thoughts and prayers have been with you and yours, on this difficult of days. t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006

We have been to look at cars and have found one that is very suitable, very comfortable, easy to access seat wise and a fair price.

Going to take it out for a test on Thursday. Well, I will sit there like Lady Muck whilst B drives it.

Thank you Joan, I am hoping that I will win my appeal, at whatever stage, be it reconsideration or at tribunal if needs be.

It has been a bit nippy Kath, it was chilly, even though all the cars were under cover, the breeze blows through and chills you off. It was FAR less stressful, even the "facilities" were 100% improved :D:D the staff were super helpful and very patient, while I hobbled about. I did attempt to try one car, that I loved, but I could not get in, way too low door wise.

Glad you got to the Co Op - we love to hear the birds, day and night, with lots of owls around at the moment, hooting and shrieking

I hope you had all your thermals on for your sit on the benches :? :?

I have put some more eclairs out, I wonder where they all went, who knows :lol::lol: Toni will need some I am sure.

The carrot cake looks a delight, thank you, I will snaffle two halves, I mean two pieces, for later :lol::D:D

Hi Barbara, now we see you, so glad you have your pic up on FB now, always wonderful to put a face to a friend t4591 t4591

As you will have read, we have found a car that is suitable, big, high doors, loads of legroom, average mileage for the year, by no means is it new car, but it is in super condition, full service history, two careful lady owners. It has all the bells and whistles on it that we could need.

We looked at a Skoda Fabia, but the doors were not high enough for me, I cannot bend my neck much at all. Banging heads when you get in, is no fun at all.  I was all for getting in a nice big Volvo, but goose grease and a shoehorn would not have got me through the door  :lol::lol::lol:

Back is not too bad, I have kept up with the Tramadol while we were out.

Went to the GC on the way back, for lunch, wonderful veg soup, chips and then a scone, two coffee's - perfect. B had garlic mushrooms on ciabatta, with chippy's :)

    Phew, so that was today.

Hi to Toni, hope you and yours are ok, Sleek has been over, as the sweets have gone down a great deal. Her bed, on my bed, has been moved about, so there has been blankie sorting or hiding of things underneath. t115006 t115006 Bless her, she was glad to see us home.

Enough for now, I need to potter a little. Time for pills and potions. We will all enjoy the carrot cake from Kath, with some clotted cream of course.

Hi to everyone else, love and sparkles to all t4591 t115006 will catch up later XXXX Aidan

Oh, I had a letter from my MP, he has written, in support of my appeal, to the Minister of State, for Disabled people    let's go right to the very top eh :o:o Bless him he is such a kind man, so helpful.

Evening everyone. Late in again

I have been thinking about Carol today and Mr T glad all went smoothly and everyone is ok. No rush to update us family always has to come first.

Kath the carrot cake looks so pretty! I hope that you enjoyed your share of the eclairs Aidan is popping some more out so I can have one or three

Kari is excited because there are several Waxwings near her house!

    Hope the link works….

Aidan I am so pleased you have found a likely car. I was starting to worry and that in a helpful garage too. :D

I’m sure we all hope you win your appeal and get to keep Bette. I wonder what all this PIP malarkey is doing to our car industry… Thanks to your lovely MP for his support. Yes let him go to the top!!! t4591

A visit to the GC all good you deserved the lunch chips and scones included. Keep on top of the painkillers for today ((()))

Sleek has been over definitely she brought Mrs D who is good at throwing stuff out so I am pretty sure the pile of discarded blankies will be the last for a while. :?

The sweets have been chomped yes and litter flicked they all used the facilities I’m afraid. They are planning another chat with the nymphs on the crystal ball later so expect another dozy spell :animal_busy:

Barbara the almond French berry casserole that was me but not the eclairs I think Kath is taking credit….I mean the blame for that one!!

I loved your pic too on facebook looking good girl!

Different cars can cause problems – I haven’t tried the skoda so haven’t bumped my head. I have a Juke and it’s v comfy as a driver, but when Paul drive it not quite so. Not sure why.

Hi to Joan! How’s your cold any better? Did Sue catch it? I hope we don’t get any snow I am not keen on it

Well done mig to your Grandson! That is fabulous news! I wonder what an enlarged thyroid means. I am sure it will be investigated thoroughly though.

Did you say a 50 year anniversary loomimg? Can we come to the party?? t4591

Hi to all - I spy snow symbols on our weather forecast :? :? t110007

Hi Carol - I am pleased to hear that your BIL's funeral went as well as possible. You were in our thoughts t4591 t4591 Many hugs to you, Mr T and the family ((()))

You will need a good rest, such events in life are totally draining, more so than we realise. xx

Hi Toni, late, don't worry, late is my middle name, we live a twilight time here

Waxwings, they are gorgeous birdies. Not seen any up ere in t'north west like :?
We have wrens, sparrows, dunnocks, wagtails, owls (various) woodpeckers, jays, magpies (they are naughty) bats, blue tits, long tailed tits, bull finches, robins.............I will keep a keen eye for waxwings though, lovely colours they have.

Yes, we are pleased that we have found a suitable car, now we have to test it and get a deposit on it, before it is nabbed by someone else.
The car dealer could not have been more helpful. It takes a week or so to get the car ready, service, immaculisation etc. Everyone was certainly busy there, lots of polishing and cleansing, everything was shining brightly :D:D:D most impressed I was.

Bette has to go, even though I have asked for a reconsideration   SO many people are having their means of transport and in many cases, their only means of freedom from 4 walls. I just don't get it. People appeal and then go to tribunal which costs the DWP an absolute fortune.

I am super impressed with our MP, I didn't expect him to put his support for my appeal, to the Minister of State :o  I nearly fell over. :?

I won't mention the other "events" that are going on in Parliament. Rather concerning times. :? :?

Mother said that Sleek Mrs D went out with her and took some blankies to the charity shops in town, bless them t4591

Litter, to all four corners of the room.  Her "powder room" is being bleached today and re filled, nice and deep. Will have to pop to the Vets to gather some more sweets, they are vanishing at an alarming rate  :lol:

The Nymphs have moved to a new "hotel" in the magical forest, a more oriental place, lots of yin and yang t115006

    0000_merlin-fantasy-cabin-night-598x325.jpg

I tried to nap, at siesta time, but I think I was still in looking at cars mode. Paul would have had a field day with us :) So, your car is not quite as comfy when he is driving..............  :? :? we will say no more :lol:

It was nice just to go to the GC and be pampered over a light ish lunch.

Picking Dad up today, get some bits from Sainsb. Still waiting on my GP's letter :? :?

Otherwise a not too busy a day. Time for a little recharge.

A big hi to everyone else, in and about. I will pootle along.

So Sue and the carers gave you the cold Joan! cheeky things! I haven't managed to spot the waxwings myself, but Kari has :)

Aidan I am very sorry about the sweets, but Mother is a generous hostess. The hostess with the moistest

The blankies went to the cats protection league I heard that's good. The considered the blue cross, but were worried about dogs being around

The nymphs are enjoying some yoga and meditation apparently. Sleek reckons they are going to teach the cats when they get home :?

Of course your new car must be inspected, serviced and immaculised I hope B can test drive t soon so no-one else gets in first!

I think it's been realised that PIP isn't saving the money it's supposed to have done. It has actually cost millions (billions?) as 68% of appeals are successful. I hope your MP highlights how rubbish it is yet again to the Minister of State.

As for the other polictical issues....I am very worried fearing riots :(

Lucy as been doing her OU work this morning I have been looking on. No typing to do yet until it's all done.

Oh lovely a unicorn biscuit went rather well with a cup of tea :) Enjoy Sainsbury's hope Dad is well.

    Hope everyone else is ok

I am scoffing Unicorn biscuits, many thanks Aidan. So happy you have chosen a car and hope you enjoy being Lady Muck on Thursday. If only ALL MPs were as nice as yours. I won't mention ours, she isn't very popular. She always manages to get her high profile seat behind Mrs M and slightly to one side, wearing a pink jacket.

Joan, dad and Emily are very well thank you. I hope you and Sue are also well. Hope the dogs are keeping warm. A couple of years ago about a dozen or more Waxwings in a Rowan Tree that used to be in the garden at the back of our house. They were amazing.

    Lentil Sausage Casserole
    Ingredients
16 ounces lentils - dried, brown
    1 bay leaf
13 ounces plant based Italian Sausage - one package -
1 onion - yellow onion - finely diced
15 ounces tomatoes - can diced tomatoes
    2 tablespoons tomato paste
    1/2 cup water
    3 carrots, sliced
    1 teaspoon paprika
    1 teaspoon cumin
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    1 teaspoon coconut sugar
    1/2 teaspoon sea salt

    Instructions
Place the lentils and bay leaf in a large saucepan and cover the lentils with water by about an inch and a half.
Cover and bring to a boil.
    Turn down to medium heat.
Cook about 15 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed and lentils are tender.
Taste to see if the texture is done but not mushy.
Take out the bay leaf when done and discard. Set lentils aside.
While the lentils are cooking take the covering off of the sausage. Be careful when handling as you want to links to stay together.
Slice the sausage in 1/2" thick slices. Set aside.
Heat about a tablespoon of water in a large skillet.
Add the onion to the skillet and saute for about 10 minutes.
    Preheat the oven to 350°.
Add the sausage and of the rest of the ingredients, including the cooked lentils to the skillet and mix gently but well.
Pour into a large casserole dish or two smaller ones so that you can freeze one.
Cover the casserole with a lid.
Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
    Enjoy

Hi to all - it is going cooler, without a doubt. Ice warnings and some snow, lurking about later this week :? :?  t110007

Hi Joan and Sue, those naughty carers giving you both a cold, we need them in masks if they are sniffly and coughing.

We hope to have found the right car, just sorting out things like insurance and tax etc, we are not used to that, with having a motability car for 10 years.

I hope you don't get any snow, you cannot get out if it is slippery, totally not safe.

Hi Toni, Sleek is the hostess with the most when it comes to sweets and treats :lol: Vet visit on Fri, to stock up on the kitten kibbles. They seem to have done Mother Glitter Sparkles no harm for the last 19 years.

Mother has heard about the Yoga, that the Nymphs are enjoying. She is not quite convinced her legs, can get into those positions any more     Maybe some mindfulness would be less jarring on the bones.

We aim to test drive ie be chauferred around Blackburn, tomorrow. We just need to give them 30 mins to get the cars juggled about, you know how they cram them in  it has a flat tyre, which I want sorting, as in not just pump it up and hope for the best. :? :?
If we are both happy, we will leave a holding deposit, so no one else can nab it.

I will be making sure of the immaculisations and service etc. Plus, if and when we get it, we will go straight to Kwik Fit and ask them to check it from front to back - brakes, tyres, pressures, levels, discs etc.

The dealer that we went to the other day, when we were frozen and drenched, has been ringing every day since, have you thought about a car with us, have you seen the website again. I gave them short shift today. I said we are sorted, thanks, bye...............and blocked them :D:D We don't go back to places with unsavoury "facilities".

You are quite right on the PIP and the appeals and tribunals, the cost must be eye watering, to have all these tribunal panels, up and down the length of the country.

I am still in awe that my MP has put forward my appeal, to the minister of state :o:o No guarantee I am sure. But, every little helps. Still waiting for GP letter

Oh, the other matters, that are ensuing in the hallowed halls of the Houses of Parliament, are quite worrying to be honest. I am with you on your thinking that there will be some form of civil unrest.

Hope Lucy is ok with her OU work. I am sure you are keeping an interested eye.

I am in love with the Unicorn biscuits :)

Sainsb was ok, Dad was ok, ish. He came back here for croissant and coffee and an extra pain killer for his ouchy calves ( he has vascular problems ). He is keeping up with his AB's, no coughing at all.

Hi Kath, I will be Lady Muck tomorrow, all being well. Wafting along :lol:
I will look out for your MP in her pink jacket.

We had some rain early on, but it has cleared now and gone a good deal colder this afternoon. We are in for a cold spell, just hope not too much snow. I don't mind it crisp and frosty, but ninny walking in snow, is not a pretty sight.

Lentil sausage casserole sounds wonderful, perfect for a chilly night. Thank you kindly. Glad you enjoyed the biscuits :)

Hi to Barbara and Carol, Kerrin, Elizabeth, Toady, SW, DD, Mig and all.

Time I was getting my pills sorted...........................I will leave lots of love and sparkles t4591 t115006 and call in again later. Keep warm and cosy xxxx Aidan

    Evening all

As promised a little update as I said last night all went well at Bil funeral. And after being very nervous and jittery about the eulogy he made myself and daughter very proud of him. I sat in very clear view of him with or girls in the next row but right behind me. whilst reading the eulogy he was doing exactly what he said he kept look up at me and I was looking directly back at him. as some would say he smashed it was absolutely perfect with the right amount of humorous bits to lighten the mood. even his sister and 2 of her daughters looked round at me and smiled through the their tears. both daughter have told him how proud of him they were yesterday . we then went to a conference centre nearby for a buffet and catch up with all the family. it was a very good afternoon. both of us were really shattered by the time we got home and are just as shattered this evening as Mr t had his bible study group this morning and he had a very difficult subject considering what we were doing yesterday and he asked me to go as well just for this once. after we had our usual dinner out and I went onto my knitting group but tomorrow will be a bit more relaxed and normal.

so can get back to post on here more and also need to now concentrate on getting our toilet flush and my laptop sorted out they are the next things to get sorted.

Aidan ooh chocolate eclairs i'll have one or even two of those very yummy hope your problems with Pip will be sorted soon.

hopefully every one is as ok as can be.
thank you for all your love and comment during what i can only call our 3 weeks of living in limbo land and keeing me sane while dealing with Mr T moods and youngests daughter phone calls about where she would meet us yesterday.

    sending love and sparkles to you all t4591 t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006 t115006

    hi to all

It is mighty chilly out, frosty on the roof tops - with ice warnings in place t110007 t110007 and sleet / snow on Friday :? :?

I hope you managed to stay awake while you were waiting for Lucy, ah, I see you did Toni, goodness, the mess with the apple cheesecake :lol: you used a fair few wet wipes

You will both be tired, what with Lucy doing her course work as well as visiting the other school and you keeping the car warm. Time goes so slowly if you know how long you have to wait. :? :?

We will be playing it cool, on the car test today. We want the price down a fair bit, well, if you don't ask..............that will be after the test drive and discussion as to what will be done before it goes to a new home. The dealership has a reputation to keep and they have not seen Matron in full swing yet :D:D:D:lol::lol:

We will be well wrapped up too, with a high of 4 degrees. It might all be under cover, but it is certainly not heated. t110007

See I knew you were getting bored, hence the reason for the cheesecake. I think you will need to shampoo the seats :lol:

Lady Glitter Sparkles has always had her baby kitten biscuits, she does know best and spits any other far and wide    I doubt she will be out this morning, a wee bit chilly for her bones. Sleek might tempt her with a tuna latte and a very warm side car - ooooh, the smell :mrgreen:

Hi there Carol I am so glad that the funeral went well and Mr T made everyone proud. t4591 t4591 I knew things would be ok, but it is always an unknown quantity, of how you will feel, if you will be too upset to speak...........no wonder he was somewhat jittery beforehand.

Humour and smiles, through the tears, helps melt some of the chill.

Good that you kept Mr T in direct line of sight, you will have been a great support. A little buffet and a catch up with family and friends too.

I can imagine you are both shattered, after the Bible study too. Then lunch. You will need a day or so to recharge the batteries.

Now, toilets and laptops can be sorted

Help yourself to eclairs, I keep putting more and more out and they vanish in no time   :? :?

We are all here to support and help each other, with thoughts prayers, texts, messages, you name it, we will be there. t4591 t4591

Hi to Barbara - I am sure you will have been busy, with Niamh keeping you on your tootsies. Hope you are all ok t115006

Neighbour rang, she is in Blackpool Royal  I said WHERE ?? I know she had still got chest discomfort the other day, so they decided to go over and self admit through A & E, as the Blackpool Cardio team looked after her, following her previous heart attack. She sounded ok, they will do more tests today. Hopefully they will do an angio and possibly another stent. If she is in for a few days we will go over and see her. We know that hospital well too   from when Mum was in after open heart surgery.

Right. Time I was a pottering. Lots of love and sparkles to everyone in and about. t4591 t115006 t115006 keep warm and safe and take care XXXXX Aidan

Oooh hoppelpoppel for breakie! Thanks Aidan :)

You were quite right the car got a bit messy and I was, after the cheesecake, while waiting for Lucy. Not ideal, but certainly helped pass the time!!

Matron you go for it we need you to have that car if it drives well and you are both happy - fingers crossed you get a good price!

Oh dear poor neighbour I hope she's ok I think she may have done the right thing. Something isn't right is it? :? t115006

Sleek is just back in Mother did come out for a gentle ride, the side car was warmed up ready for her and a tuna latte in her drinks holder ( ) all mods cons!

Carol thank you for the update. Poor MR T that will have been one of the hardest things he's ever had to do bless him. He did you all proud and his brother too. Good idea to use you as his focus. Sounds as though it was spot on.

I am glad you are there for him and he is accepting a little extra support (study group) from you, but I also know you desperately need some normality back. :?

Hopefully you can get those urgent jibs sorted now. Sending you some extra ((()))

A quick Woo-oo! to our Joan who will be along anytime soon :) I hope you are doing ok and the cold is easing off.

    Love to everyone

Carol, it sounds as though Mr T gave a wonderful eulogy for his brother. I'm glad it was a success. t4591

Another sunny but freezing day. I even have my woolly hat on with all my warm things. I have some fingrless mitts somewhere. Must hunt them out. t110007 t110007

Just helping myself to some hoppelpoppel thank you Aidan. I've never had that before. Looks tasty and warming.

I've just read an amazing post from Kenny in the News thread. Very inspiring.

    Grilled vegetable bruschetta
    Category: Starter/snack, Snack/side dish | Serves: 8

Prep time: 10 minutes | Cooking time: 10 minutes

    INGREDIENTS
1 red or yellow pepper, seeded and sliced into strips

1 courgette, halved and thinly sliced lengthways

    1 red onion, thinly sliced

2 large plum or vine tomatoes, thickly sliced

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    2 teaspoons wholegrain mustard

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 ciabatta loaf, cut into 8 equal portions or 8 slices from a large baguette

    1 clove garlic, halved
Shredded fresh basil leaves, to garnish
Preheat grill to high and line grill rack with foil. Place pepper, courgette, onion and tomatoes in large bowl. Whisk together oil, mustard and black pepper, then drizzle over vegetables and toss gently to mix.
Spread vegetables in single layer on grill rack. Grill for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until lightly browned. Set aside and keep warm.
Toast bread slices on both sides under grill and, while still hot, rub garlic halves over one side of each piece of toast.
Divide grilled vegetables between toast slices, piling them onto garlicky sides. Garnish with shredded basil and serve immediately.
    Cook’s tips
If your grill pan is not big enough to cook all the vegetables at the same time, simply grill half the vegetables as instructed, then remove them and keep warm, while grilling remaining vegetables. The same applies to toasting the bread – toast it in two batches, if necessary.
