    Hah!!!!!

Legs it is good for her - better than the stuff she has been reading. Passed on by her Aunty or the 'New Romaces' vampire books, which her friends read :)

I am still enjoying my manual book - it's a biggun though, (weight not length), I miss my kindle.

Fancy joining the CSK (campaign for Susy's Kindle)??

Glad you are enjoying Worth dying For Suzygirl :)

    Of course :D

For reading in bed at night I sync my iPod with my Kindle as, for me, the iPod is so small and portable. It also has a lit screen so I don't have to have a light on. In the morning I sync and read from my Kindle during the day as it has a bigger screen.

Legs - I haven't sussed this, but Lucy the youngest has connected her IPOD to my kindle and I get books for her. Like vampire stuff  hunger games etc

    Easier to read then?

    That's good :)

Been quite rough so resting. Between sleeping and slobbing  I have read Worth dying for by Lee Child

I found it exciting, readable and hard to put down. It was a bit like a boys film with the violence, but having said that I found it part of the plot rather than superflous. Overall a ****

I also have just finished May I have your attention please byJames Corden

Firstly I have to admit I am a fan, the book is written as he would tell it and provides giggles. It was interesting to see how he got to where he is. I love Gavin and Stacey and League of their own.

I prefer to read from the Kindle more than anything but the iPod is more portable. Being so small and light it's great for popping in my bag for hospital visits etc where I'm likely to be waiting round.

Another point for the CSK is that you read faster with a Kindle as you don't have the 'physical' turning of a page you just touch screen or press a button.

It was a laddish book wasn't it Suzy - but a good read all the same.

I hope you are paying attention to Legs' observation for the CSK about reading faster. Oh also of course the books are cheaper :) I never buy magazines anymore either....that saves money

I never thought of taking the IPOD to appointments....good thinking!

Hi! I seem to have missed the CSK, sorry! But, I have to be honest, I am a real book person. But I don't have hand/arm problems so I can manage with actual books well.

Anyway, I just read Every last one by Anna Quindlen I picked it up off the shelf in the library while I was waiting for some other books to arrive. It looks like a thriller type and so I was disappointed for the first half of the book at least. It starts out as the usual American family story. Some problems with one of the teenage sons and the usual problems with boyfriends of the elder daughter. The Mom has a few friends and they are introduced but I didin't really care! I was about to give up on it when, half way through, the "bad thing" happens and then I was interested. I even ended up crying through the last few chapters this morning! Not a thriller, just a story of love, loss and grief. Not the best book ever but not the worst either so ***

I have another Elizabeth Chadwick that I picked up to read next and then I will be off for my op when I reckon I might have to read rubbish magazines. I always find my mind turns to mush in hospital!

I've just started The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. It hasn't gripped me ..............yet. Any other book dwellers tried it?

Thanks for the tip Toni - that has been my advice in the past too. But I am staying for 7 days this time - not sure if I will feel better enough for a book after all that time! Am going to have a sneaky read of the mags when I go shopping tomorrow or wednesday and see which to get.

Linda - I have Lady of the English - going to start tonight I think. Also, no I haven't read that book.

Frogmella, I find the same as Toni. I usually get a gossipy selection, that I wouldn't read normally. You can pick them up and put them down at any time.

    When do you go in?

Yes, when do you go in and will you have wifi?

Maybe one really good book just in-case you feel ready to strain your brain in the last few days?

I, too, find I can't concentrate on a book after surgery but agree it's worth having one to hand just in case. I take a favourite one I've read before that I know I love .......though it does depend on if you'll be able to sit or lie comfortably.

I hope you enjoy Lady of the English, I thought it wasn't her best but that's just my opinion.

Kate Atkinson is releasing a new book on 14th March. It is called Life after life. About a woman in 1910 who has to live her life again and again till it is perfect as it was meant to be. It sounds really good.

I often wonder how life would turn out if you made a different choice!!

What do you think? I am sure I have read others of hers.

I have read a couple of Kate Atkinsons and enjoyed them; that one sounds good too.

I go in on Tuesday 26th!! I have bought three mags to take in and have got a Jodi Picoult out of the library because I find her books to be good brain dead reading! If you know what I mean?!!

Also picked up another Elizabeth Chadwick - The Greatest Knight. Might start that one instead of the other on Linda's advice!

I've read Jodi Piccolt's My Sister's Keeper which was excellent and really left you thinking about things from another point of view.

The Greatest Knight is Elizabeth Chadwick's best novel in my opinion. My sister-in-law said she fell in love with William Marshall when she researched him ......don't know where that leaves my brother though

Hope you enjoy it Frogmella but I'm not offended if you don't ......afterall I'm not the author :D

Oh yes, don't get me wrong - I enjoy the Picoults! They are easy to read and I find her way of changing the main character each chapter makes them page turners too.

I am looking forward to reading the greatest knight now legs, I am sure I will enjoy it. I wish I could write - I am a science person and can write "to the point" but am no good at descriptive stuff. I can do conversations but writing just doesn't happen for me. What I am saying is I am jealous of your sister in law!!

I will have wifi, just rememberd I didn't say before. Will get im indoors to bring laptop when I feel better enough to let you all know I have survived!

Don't be too jealous, it's hard work. Her contract states she has to write a new book every 14 months  She wrote her first novel at age 15, (funding herself by stacking shelves in Asda) but she didn't get it published till she was nearly 30. It's a hard market to get into, literary agents are very choosy. But, she's done it and loves doing it and she's now reaping the benefits for being tenacious and believing in herself :D

Hope to follow your progress whilst you're going through your surgery. Have you got a pigeon who can post for you as everyone on the forum will want to know how you are?
