Toni, I have just downloaded a handful of free books to my kindle. I love my kindle, it has made reading so much more enjoyable, if that is possible! :D

Lindalegs, I have recently read that book by Barbara Erskine, I really enjoyed it. I have read a few of her books.

Me too, The Warrior Princess was good and more scary than River of Destiny .......it depends on how much you want to be scared sometimes. :D

I don't know if it's been mentioned before but I discovered another thing which my Kindle does .........................it can read any book aloud to me!! That means if my hands are particularly rubbish, I feel ill or I'm doing the washing up/ironing/other chore I can let it read to me.

Only just seen this Linda, so I tried it on my Kindle HD and it works, how good is that?
    Thanks

I think it's a brilliant option although it did take a little while to get used to having Stephen Hawkins reading to me!

Glad I've helped someone else though Kath :D

I'm reading book of the month and I think ...................... I'll tell you at the end of the month

I think they should all do it as mine's quite an old one.

If you open a book then go into menu and when the drop down list appears there will be an option on it of 'Turn on Text-to-Speech'. Scroll to it or tap it (depending on which Kindle you have) and there you go.

Hope it works on your Bubba.

I use it Amanda - it's not brilliant - has no ability to emphasise words and as Legs say it's very 'Tinny', but it has it's uses doesn't it?

    e.g in the bath

I have just finished Come to the Edge by Joanna Kavenna
It is a book I just picked up from the library but as I just went to record it in my journal I found that I had written it down in the books i want to read section - how odd! And the next book I have to read that I also just picked up is also one I have noted down! Weird!
Anyway. It is a funny story really. The narrator, whose name we never learn, is a youngish woman who answers an advert in the paper to be a live in help to a widow. The widow turns out to live in a house in the southern lakes with no electricity (national grid are evil), water from the well, all home grown food etc. To be honest I quite fancy that life myself! Anyway, the widow - Cassandra - hates the second home people who essentially never stay in their second homes and she hatches a "resettlement" plan for the old folk in the village.
I enjoyed it as a different sort of book. Silly but made me think too. So I award ****
