Glad to see Karen back! Well it's that time of the month again! Time to start thinking about a choice for Book of the Month for June. Let me know of any suggestions please.

I am just so glad this group exists there's nothing worse than wanting to read something and you just want a decent book but can't seem to find one.

I'm reading Game of thrones I'm halfway through the first one and it's brilliant. However with it being so long I think I would like to read something else as well.

I'm not sure if there are any Londoners or anyway who has any strong emotions (good or bad) towards London but I've been reading (quite near the start mind you) Londoners by Craig Taylor - 'The days and nights of London now - as told by those who love it, hate it, live it, left it and long for it.' Its is basically a collection of anecdotes, some amusing, some thought provoking but all really short. I'm reading it from start to finish but you could dip in and out (I guess it would make quite good toilet reading if anyone is inclined to keep a variety of literature next to the lav  )

I will try and around to reading Gone Girl and if not probrably one of the other interesting books that have been recommended.

Also with regards to the kindle reading software it is definately nbetter than nothing if youre not feeling up to reading but I really love a good human voice telling a story. I was considering getting a audible account https://www.audible.co.uk/whatis/ref=offers_mst_tnaft_1/279-5276342-6304826?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=12F3P3QJVC76TNNE53FA&pf_rd_m=A1RO2JEVVFPTTY&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=1402860021_at&pf_rd_p=400705527&pf_rd_s=top-nav-ftx

Would love to know if anyone here has one? As I'm getting a bit fed up of relistening to harry potter or Roald Dahl audiobooks when I'm trying to drift off to sleep

    Penelope Lively's book The Photograph

Glyn finds amongst his papers an envelope saying 'Do Not Open DESTROY' in his dead wife's handwriting .............so, of course he opens it to find a photograph. The group photo portrays his wife in an intimate stance with his brother-in-law. It sounds intriguing, I know, but I found this dull to read and the enigma of Kath (dead wife) floating through the chapters a nuisance. I actually skimmed some of the pages to get to the end of the book. I felt it would have been far more interesting if the side characters of Kath’s sister and husband had been the focus of the story.

    Consensus reached then!

I finished The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton last night. I forget, was it April's BOTM? Anyway, I enjoyed it.
I like books that are split into different characters' points of view because I find they always make me keep reading long after my bed time!! I admit that I had worked out the "puzzle" by about halfway but that didn't spoil it for me. I also like a good mystery and this didn't disappoint on that front either.
    So I award ****/***** probably 4 and a half!

I am now going to read another Mo Hayder.

The kids (kittens) are back to their old selves bar Willows missing square of fur! Her stitched area is looking good and has almost healed! Haven't had time to read yet as Hubby dragged me off shopping for 2hrs Friday and I'm recovering from that! Been very tired. Hoping to get my head down in the conservatory today!

May's book of the month Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

This was a real page turner about a missing wife. It showed both sides of a story and had many unexpected twists and turns and I really enjoyed it ………..till the end. I knocked a star off purely because the ending left you in a state of limbo and I would think preparing you for a sequel.

    GONE GIRL By Gillian Flynn

I did enjoy this book, it wasn't my usual genre and I like to have a change.

The story is about a woman who goes missing on her 5th wedding anniversary leaving some 'clues' behind her.

As is usual her husband it the main suspect....but there is more to it than that. The female lead is a complex character and very devious, the male lead is a 'cheat'.

I wasn't sure who was my hero/heroine 'her' or 'him' What I enjoyed was the fact that I ended up 'siding' with them almost in turn!

    A good book I would give 4.5*

Love to everyone and Amanda....wish I had bought ROOM at that bargain price

Hi all, sorry been so quiet, lots going on at the moment.

I watched the film The Hunger Games on Sunday and absolutely loved. Then I downloaded and read the book, I was enthralled.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

It is set in the future and is about 24 adults chosen from 12 districts who have to fight each other until only one remains. It sounds graphic, but isn't and is enthralling and gripping right until the last page. I was hooked from the first page and have downloaded the next in the trilogy.

    ***** 5/5

    Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

It was a murder mystery told from 2 perspectives, slightly implausible plot and the ending I found weak, but probably sets you up for a sequel.

    *** 3/5

    Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

I loved this book as it was so different and refreshing to read. I have since read others of hers and enjoyed them equally.

    **** 4/5

My mom has just given me a book called The Secret Scripture by Sebastion Barry it is about a 100 year ols lady incarcerated in a physchiatric hospital and why she is there, for all her life. It looks fascinating and I was wondering if no one has read it, if it could be book for July? Just an idea.

I have also read this months book, very interesting. Will try not to leave so long between posting. It is just my stupid hands hurt so much.
