I too have finished BOTM, and felt the same as you Frogmella

I have just read Devils Cub by Georgette Heyer, I raced through it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sheer indulgence!

I am now reading Six years by Harlan Coben.

I have also just read Secret Scripture, it was good but not as good as I was expecting. Thought provoking book in many ways.

Hope everyone is ok. Amanda, how are the kittens, are you recovered from your bug?
Frogmella, are you feeling better? You have done so well.
Toni, it seems you run a cat refuge  How are you?

Hi suzy! I am just about recovered from the parents evening set-back now. Over a week back on painkillers but feel ok this morning. Which is good because on the 1st July we are off to Padstein for three nights to celebrate my escape from back pain! Going to sample Mr Stein's fare and Paul Ainsworths' too! So I really wanted to be feeling better. If I am honest I am a bit worried now about how the journey might affect me now. I had thought I was better than I am so I think we will need to stop a few times. We live in Staffordshire so it is about 4 hours journey. Pacing has never been my strong suit!

I think I read a Georgette Heyer. I know I have read at least one Harlan Coben. I have an idea I read one Harlan Coben and loved it so started another and hated it! But I could be wrong!

I started Horns last night and it is good so far.

That is like me with Harlan Coben, I don't enjoy all of his books. However I was assured this was a good one so we shall see :D

I hope you enjoy your trip, and the food.

My PC is in for repair now but an iPad threw itself into my path as I walked through John Lewis so I just had to buy it! so I can still keep in touch after all

I can always suggest a book but do feel that it's nice to have a mixture of tastes, so I'll come up with one if no one else comes forward ........and you get down on your knees and beg of course :lol:

Amazon emailed yesterday with Kindle daily offers, which they are doing a new title everyday being offered for £0.99p!! It's only for that day mind due!!

If anyone has any suggestions for JULY'S BOOK OF THE MONTH please let us know as June is nearly over. Any new genre's would be nice as we haven't had any biographies or Auto-Biographies, horror's ect.

I've become interested in the Crime & Investigation channel on Sky and there are books out about killers so I might look at some of them!

I am trying to think of a book. I have just checked and the 2 books I want to read are still £6 and £8 respectively. Life after Life byKate Atkinson and Peter James latest in the Roy Grace series.

I have just read Six Years by Harlen Coben, it is about a man who is trying to find a woman he loves after 6 years. She made him promise to leave her alone, however when he reads her husbands obituary he decides to look her up. I did enjoy it, although I found the start slow. I had stopped reading his books as I got fed up, but this one was worth reading. I give it a ***

I just finished Horns by Joe Hill
Joe is Stephen King's son and he has the same easy to read style as his Dad. Not the same feel but easy to read. This was about Ig who woke up with a hangover and HORNS growing from his head! The horns allowed him to read people's minds if he touched them and also encouraged people to divulge their darkest secrets. Now a year prior to this his girlfriend, Merrin, had been murdered and everyone thought he did it. He essentially uses the horns to find out who does and tries to get revenge.
It was a good book. I enjoyed it. Odd, but good! So I say ****

When the new Stephen King comes out, the sequel to the shining, maybe we could have that a horror BOTM?

I don't read many bios - not really my thing. Only read Nigel Slater's because I love him!!

If we say we can have the weekend to find BOOK OF THE MONTH FOR JULY and make a decision on Monday we all have time then to find something we all like that none of us has read. Is that OK with everyone? :)

I have had a kindle deal today and have seen a book that would be a good suggestion for July's Book of the Month it's called Blink of an Eye by Cath Staincliffe. It is £0.99p today but I don't know what it will be after. But if it is a reasonable price after it maybe worth a thought. What does everybody think?

    Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

The story started with good promise, a disappearance of a women, what happened? Where did she go? But then it kept flipping from from past to present each chapter which started throwing me, I hate films that do that!
I kept with the book but by just before half way I had started to get annoyed with it. If they had just kept it with the husbands story and not kept flipping between his story and Amy's diary it would be a better book.
    Did Not Finish!

    Rating:- ***

    Thanks Amanda :)

    Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
    Toni's review:

I enjoyed the 'style' of this book

which was written, in turn, by The missing girl, (in past tense via her diary), then by her husband the obvious 'suspect'

I was on the side of each of them each time I read 'their' extract!!!

An excellent read spoiled only by the lack of a satisfactory 'ending' :(

4**** for me as I know if there is a sequel I will read it
