Bubba, so many people are telling me about this book and it's also been on This Morning though I didn't see it.

If people didn't know it is a book aimed at women and is supposed to be pornographic .....................I didn't realise it was a trilogy.

I'll give it a go to see what the hype's about

Toni, Please don't think I'm telling you to read '50 shades of Grey'. The book club is a club where you read what ever book you want and you review it so other's can see what you think. And the 'book of the month' is me saying if you don't know what to read next try this. So Toni you carry on and read what you fancy this month and review for us after!!

I am thinking of writing my own book, the title will be

    50 shades of gravy
Its going to be a saucy book!!!

    boomboom!

Seriously I read this trillogy, kind of disturbing sex or disturbing controlling ways from mr Grey. [ Text Edited]
Its not my usual read but it was easy reading though and for some strange reason I couldnt put it down.
How come I'm over the hill and rapidly going down it, when I don't even recall reaching the summit?

Hi Herestinker, if you want to write your own book I would happily put it on the bookshelf for someone to pick it up, read it and review it for book club! To be honest I'm getting bored of hearing about '50 shades of Grey'! My mom and sister where discussing it when I went to lunch with them, my sister had tried to go and buy it from our local waterstones and it was sold out, and then went to Sainsbury's and tesco's surprise! Sold out. She is going to try again the weekend to get it. Now I wouldn't mind if she was an avid reader but can never finish a magazine let alone a book!! So I'll be glad when the frenzy around the book will calm down. Talking of book's I'm half way through James Corden's Auto-biography haven't been able to read much because my patients has been short because of having to take high doses of morphine at the moment. Enjoy reading ladies & Gents!!

As an avid reader I am going to look through the posts on this thread, I love hearing others views on a particular book, how we can all differ on opinion reading the same text.

The book I am reading at the moment is 'Fatima Whitbread' survivor.
What a turbulent life she has led. A true survivor with determination and drive!
Again the out of control child due to abandonment and lack of family care, lots of let downs and rejection has led to her controlling lots of positive areas of her life.

    Good on you Fatima!

Glad you've checked out 'the book club!' When you have finished your book on Fatima Whitbread I would apreciate if you could do a review on the book, you will see the way it helps to set the review out on page 1 of this topic. Thank you and welcome to book club!

Have just finished." To serve them all my days" by R.F.Delderfield. Its about a man who comes home from the first world war, gets a job as a teacher in a remote school and ends up as headmaster. It tells his story over a period of 25years. Its quite an old fashioned type of book but i really enjoyed it. R.F.Delderfield is one of my favourite authors. His books are very english, but he makes you think of times gone by when the world was a different place.

This was a series on TV in the 80's 'the man' was played by John Duttine. It came on every Friday night at 8:0 and was my favourite programme, I should think the book was better, as they usually are. :)

    Fifty Shades of Grey 2*

This is a graphic book about sex. Its storyline is quite thin and leaves you, in the end with unanswered questions to make you read the following two books in the trilogy ......which I won't be. The author has obviously watched Pretty Woman because there are echoes of the film throughout. (Though I do like that film.)

I don't mind having a sex scene in a book but the storyline has to be strong to support it and make it the icing on the cake not just trip from one sex scene to another as 50 shades seems to.

I also wouldn't like to think that people inexperienced sexually were reading it as it mentions things which could be classed as shocking.

If you don't like dominant men and subservient women you won't like this book.

Right what's the book of the month for August?

Thank you legs for the review! I'm surprised the Author has made it more sex less story what with the book being made into a film now, will be interesting to see what they do with it! Hopefully it will not mirror 'eyes wide shut' as that got panned and for good reason it was very awkward to watch it was like gooseberrying on Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman in their bedroom!
I am thinking about what book to make 'Book of the month' for August at the moment. So Will Announce the title 1st week of August! Not long now!!

Have just finished Midnight by Josephine Cox. An easy read with a twist at the end. Jack's relationship with his girlfriend is being torn apart by bad dreams that haunt him. Realising that Jack is being driven close to the edge, Molly urges him to seek help. With their relationship faltering, Jack decides to hunt for answers.
