Thanks - I did have a good holiday! Weather was surprisingly good and so we did quite a lot of walking. That is something I didn't think I would ever be doing again so it was very special and made my op and recovery totally worth it!

I gave up on the Frances Fyfield. Wasn't really enjoying it so ditched it to read The Shining in preparation for the arrival of Doctor Sleep next week! Also getting the Dawn French next week too.

I hope you are feeling better Bubba.

Toni - I think I have that book suggested by your sis on my list!

I have that book on my kindle too and am busy reading the Jonathan Fairfax one.

Now Amanda - we DID that!! The marshmallows :) In France we lit the fire and Lucy cooked them - I didn't like them much but the toast was.....yum ;)

    Suzy
    - it is a shame it's so cold, but at least the clocks went back so the mornings are a little lighter

Glorious sunshine out there today and husband is going to the car racing so hoping I get a chance for a read

Glad both Frogmella & Frogmorton had lovely holiday's! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm enjoying The Perpetual Astonishment of Jonathon Fairfax I'm half way through, it is rather weird but keeps me interested!! I saw the movie 'The Life Of Pi on Saturday, it was an amazing movie with fantastic Cinematography. There is the book of it out I understand and I'm putting it on my wishlist! It really is a must see movie! If you haven't seen it you must, I was blubing by the end.

Oh yes, Bubba! That film was fab. I haven't read the book, but Mr F has, and he said it was a good book. Now that I have seen the film I am not sure about reading it. Might leave it until I forget what happened!

I am enjoying re-reading The Shining. A long time since I read it. Mind you, with the length of my "to read" list I must be mad reading it again!! Haha!!

Weather a bit manky today so I stayed in bed and read before pilates and walked the dogs in the afternoon when the rain had eased a bit. It was bliss!!

I loved that film to Amanda and Frogmella.

Really good it was - I would like to read the last page of the book to see if it gives you any insight as to which of the two 'stories' was real.....

Dark and dank here too and wet as well most of the day.

Finishing reading The Husband's secret and also still enjoying Jonathan Fairfax

Hello all, damp and cold here

I have just finished reading If you were here by Alafair Burke it was a kindle book of the day and I really enjoyed it. Lots of twists and turns and I didn't guess the ending

    ****/*****

I am now reading Touch by Mark Sennen it seems good so far.

I have also read Gingerbread Man by Maggie Shayne which I liked and have downloaded a couple of others of hers.

I have also been reading a few silly books as my migraines are still bad and lots of drilling and banging still with the kitchen being re done. Been a rough few weeks for me, so apologies for being absent. I have been keeping up with posts though and trying to be more active on the forum. Nice to hear everyone's updates.

Keep warm and well everyone, and watch the wet leaves, they are lethal if you step on them!

P.s Toni am craving a visit to a certain shop

My furry friends & I are staying warm & Dry, when the weather is like this it's nice to snuggle under a quilt and read (as well as play a few games of Candy Crush Saga!!).

I hate having to dodge the wet leaves on our drive way, I have gone a**e over t*t a couple of times in the past!! Ouch :(

Icy this morning everyone :( Had to take the youngest up to school early for a trip brrr!!!

Leaves wet and icy too - lethal

Suzygirl - anytime you can get shopping this way let me know - I am close by and ready to join you ;) Hope those migraines ease off soon.

Amanda - Daisycat has been staying in more too with it like this - they have sense don't they our kitties? :)

We have my bro's kindle fire HD here to try out as two of my girls are after kindles for Christmas and the youngest is after clothes too ( ) so second hand could be useful I reckon ;)

Toni it's a shame we don't live nearer as we could of had coffee and catch up's at each others so we could see each other's kitties!

I don't know if they do them as they are so new but reconditioned Kindle Fires could have been a good way to go. As they would have had a warranty as well. I have brought a few reconditioned items before.

I finished The Shining today, just in time to start Doctor Sleep, the sequel.

It is still a really good book. I found myself getting more tense as the climax approached! I love Stephen King's writing, always easy to read and always gripping. I give *****

It's Newlife Frogmella? Have you heard of it? It's right by ma hoose and Suzygirl loves it, (well most people do ;) ). Last time she came over I STILL didn't get to meet her as I was away

Amanda I would LOVE to meet Arnie and Willow and you would adore Daisycat she is right here next to me now on her 'bunk bed'. One of those cat beds which hook over the radiator :D

I am next to the radiator because it's COLD :(

How are people getting on with Jonathan Fairfax?? I am finding it rather funny :)

Frogmorton I haven't heard of that shop. I will have to have a gander if it is that good though!! Promise not to steal all the bargains, Suzy!

I am afraid I haven't got Jonathan Fairfax - not available at the library and I can't buy any more books - you should see my shelves, they are overflowing!!

I keep thinking about getting one of those cat bed things too. We only got central heating three years ago so radiators are still a novelty to me!

I expect you can google the shop Frogmella. It's sort of a charity shop and there are serious bargains to be had  I live off the same road it's on :D

If you ever get there you must tell me and I will come and find you

Won't the library order Jonathan Fairfax for you? grr!!!

Daisycat loves her 'bunk-beds' she has two one in the utility where she sleeps at night and one right be me in our bedroom :) I got mine from H*me B*rgains. I expect it's because it's warm :)

I got some loudspeaker for my kindle as some road surfaces make it hard to hear audiobooks on it....and they don't seem to work :( waiting for my step-daughter to see if it's just me

Hi Guys, Sorry haven't been around, wasn't to good Friday so had a sofa day! snuggled with my furry throw over me watching films & snoozing! Then Saturday my laptop decided to have a gremlin and refused point blank to work! And I had the DLA Nurse visit. My clever wonderful OH got it working eventually at gone midnight but I lost everything and have had to start from the beginning again!
What can I say about Jonathan Fairfax? Well it's interesting! Slightly weird! But you want to keep reading on! It's different to most books I've read.

Gosh Amanda that must have been very frustrating :? Good ole husband, but shame you lots everything.

I really hope the DLA assessment went totally in your favour.

I feel the same with Jonathan Fairfax. Do you find yourself sniggering and loving the coincidences slotting things together??

    Love

Hi Toni, You just couldn't write a book about this!! Got my laptop all set up with everything Sunday morning, did a few things on it went to turn it off and it decided to do 135 updates so left it to do that on OH's instructions. When it finished Phil told me to turn it on to test it was running OK. Did that and guess! It wasn't working properly!! Phil believes these updates the computer automatically does are messing the computer up. So he had to remove everything again, set it up from scratch and this time he has stopped all automatic updates from being done! So far now laptop is working like a dream!

Yes I do snigger and chuckle at the way it slots together and at the Jonathan Fairfax character. Interesting book, keeps you guessing and the interest up!

I have just finished reading The Misremembered man. Not my usual style of book, but I really enjoyed it. Very emotional at times and had me laughing out loud at others.

Just looked that book up on A*a*on Suzygirl - very unusual, but on your recommendation I might just have to read it

Amanda you poor thing!!!! How ridiculous that is far too many updates. Hubby can check them now before he lets them go on. Much more sensible - mine rarely does many updates that I see - suppose it must though....

I am stil reading Jonathan Fairfax and listening to The light Between the Oceans - which is breaking my heart!!

Luckily l am not reading and listening at the same time

My dear bookworms! I believe it's that time again (please correct if I'm wrong guys!!) We need to decide on Decembers Book Of The Month. So please post any suggestions you may have, if when I had my 'brain breakdown!' there was a suggestion made I will have to check we can add that to a possibility but any others you think would be good post them. Remember it will be a Christmas read!! Look forward to your suggestions!
