Since the 3rd tumble I'm being extra curious! I think the badly bruised wrist showed me it could have been worse! Had a migraine on Tuesday night which knocked the stuffing out of me so had a day in bed yesterday & woke up at half four this morning so read more of my book I'm just over half way through it now. I'm really enjoying it.0

Amanda you ARE in the wars!!!
Take it steady and read your book
I hope you slept better last night and feel rested xxx0 -
Hi Everyone, I'm still only getting a couple of hours sleep at the moment so thank goodness for Kindles!! But finished another book (see review below!) And have just started BOTM Martina Cole book.
The Curvy Girls Club by Michele Gorman
This book I've enjoyed reading a lot. It definitely would be a good holiday book. It just flowed along easily. The book is about a group of friends, Pixie, Ellie, Jane and Katie they all go to a slimming club they are all struggling to loose weight so decide to set up a social club where size doesn't matter and suddenly the club becomes massively popular. But behind the scenes things aren't what they seem! I loved it and truly recommend it if you want an easy book to read.

Maybe you should read Madame Bovary, Toni? I read it years ago and loved it. Not in the French, I hasten to add, but a translation.
Sorry to see that you are still not sleeping well, Bubba. I hope you are enjoying your reading though. Keep looking after yourself. xxx0 -
Not a bad idea Frogmella!
It's a really grotty day here - only useful for reading methinks
Paul was going to take Lucy stock-car racing tomorrow Amanda, but I think it's too wet
I have been working my way through the Agatha Raisin series in manual and kindle format depending which I can get hold of cheaper!! I really do love her 'world'

I will expect my OH would be going he never misses a meeting! But it might be cancelled if it's raining! I'm getting through the BOTM I love that the chapters are short.0

Hello! I finished Rise by Karen Campbell this morning thanks to an early morning wake up call by Hester! It is set in a small village in Scotland just before the referendum. It is essentially about a girl running away from a bad situation in Glasgow and a family running away from their bad marriage. I did enjoy it but did find that the use of Scottish speak was trying when I was tired! It had an exciting end and I did care about what happened to the characters. I suppose it was a gentle book, not fast and wild! I reckon ***/****
Have picked up The Pocket Wife now.
Off to Shropshire walking now. Enjoy the better weather while it lasts, bookies!0 -
I hope it stays nice Frogmella for you

Was it a long job, Toni?! How nice of you to do it for her!
I am enjoying The Pocket Wife so far. Read a bit last night and some more this morning. It is going to be one of those where you don't know who did what I think.
Weather was kind to us. The end of the walk was eventful - had to find a route around some horses who were far too interested in us/the dogs. I was worried that the dogs might not get through in one piece! All OK in the end, just made the walk longer than I expected! Had to have fish and chips for tea!!0 -
Phil decided to not go on Saturday due to my Dad passing he wanted to stay home with me and go this Saturday coming to Coventry.
Still enjoying the BOTM, been reading over the weekend between sleeping!0 -
Amanda - Paul is going to Coventry as well.
He goes most weekends now because he is working so hard keeping us all I think he deserves to.
Your Phil is a proper good bloke you know A total sweetie. It's a good thing you have him right now.
Frogmella The room took most of the afternoon, but I do stop regularly when I am tackling a job like that to be fair, I finished at about 9pm
The walk sounded lovely and the fish and chips (no cooking or washing up ) sounds even better!!
Will wait till Amanda has finished BOTM before reviewing

9pm!! You are a good Mom aren't you?!!
I am really enjoying The Pocket Wife. It is one of those where you don't know who to trust.0 -
I do hope our Amanda has finished May's BOTM???
If not don't read this!!
The Two of Us by Andy Jones
This book is about a couple, Ivy and 'Fisher'. Their story is told by Fisher which works well because it illustrates his confusion over what is going on with Ivy. They meet and have an amazing two weeks of passion, like you do at the beginning of a relationship.......
Then Ivy goes 'cold' on him.... Fisher is convinced he is going to be dumped, but it turns out she is pregnant. This 'baby' subsequently turns out to be 'babies' yes twins .
I have to say I liked the story, (in the end because initially I really disliked Ivy!), it gave insight into a male perspective when Fisher, suddenly finding he is going to be a Dad and have to grow up, take responsibility and, most importantly, that he is very much in love with this woman.
There are one or two characters on the side-line, my favourite being El, Fisher's friend, who is in the latter stages of Huntington's. This does add depth to Fisher's character and gives Ivy a chance to show her good side too.
I don't want to say too much more otherwise the plot will really be given away!
I award it **** 4 stars. Contemporary fiction with no real surprises a nice simple holiday read.
Toni xxx
PS Frogmella - not a totally nice Mum really, but the room was so far out of control Lucy hadn't a cat in hell's chance of sorting it herself! :roll:0 -
I will definitely read the BOTM when it comes out for real!!
I am sure you are a nice mom really!!
I hope Bubba is doing ok.0 -
The Pocket Wife by Susan Crawford
This is another whodunnit with unreliable characters. Well, one really unreliable one and some others who are dubious! The story starts with Dana waking up on the sofa with a hangover. She has vague memories of the previous afternoon, she had been to her neighbour's, Celia, house - a matter of life and death according to Celia. The trouble is that Celia has been found dead, her head bashed in. There are several people who could have done it, not least Dana who starts to have some sort of breakdown.
It is a good read, and the twist at the end caught me out until nearly the end. I reckon ****
I have The Vanishing Witch by Karen Maitland to collect this week. Then there is a new Stephen King already!! Yay!!0 -
Thanks for the review Frogmella
I really don't like it when characters are not believable
Not sure I will bother with it to be honest life's too short!!!
I am a lucky person - I have 6 manual books to take with me on my hols thanks to a good fellow bookworm friend
Enjoy your witchy tale

I promise you I will have it finished in a couple of days, sorry guys had a vile migraine Monday that went on till Wednesday morning! So couldn't do a thing till last night. I woke up at 5am this morning and managed a few chapters I've only got 10% left to read so will finish it by tomorrow! :oops:0
-
Ah, Bubba, you are still in the wars! I am sure it goes without saying that there is no real pressure to finish your book!!!
I am enjoying The Vanishing Witch so far. School tailing off a bit so might have more time to read. Not long until hols now - only two weeks, so lots of reading planned. Hope for good weather because that is always a good excuse for just reading not doing anything constructive!!0 -
