the cauldron of leek soup is simmering on the hob and will be for a bit yet. Wonder how many margarine tubs I shall fill when it has cooled down and I liquidise it. I have found out by trial and error that one margarine tub is a very ample amount for one person as I usually have dilute it a little as well. I can take out however many tubs I need. Easy peasy
Fish and chips tonight

Dear Barbara
I will send 4 tubs over tomorrow. I will make sure they are well frozen first otherwise could be a little messy!
I made a loaf of bread tonight, but cheated and used a packet mix

Couldn't quite make out what was Kev and what was the duck, but good for him :!:
Also good that you have newts in the pond. ( endangered species )0 -
Yay! Had a good night's sleep, the first since the end of January. Stopped the meds, two days ago, so a little achey this morning but will do my stretching exercises and hope that will sort it all out
So I have woken up alert, those cocodamol have a lot to answer for!
I'll see how long I can survive without the anti inflams too as they are giving my stomach jip the past few days.
Have a good day, I hope to do just that

Well, it was 16 margarine cartons that were filled with leek soup minus 4 which are being sent over to Barbara, via courier. 8) I am sure they will still be frozen by the time they arrive.
Still got some leeks left over too.

It has been a glorious day, sunny warm and just a lovely day.
That is a reason to be happy.

I had a lovely day today....my two littlest grandsons came over as a surprise for Nana.
we sat in the garden and the boys had great fun with a ball of garden string...they tied all our chairs together, wrapped it round the garden poles and then attached the end to Ruby's collar. She thought it was a sign that someone was taking her for walk and tried to move off which led to great hoots of laughter from Tom and Mat! (who hoped we would all get dragged along by the dog)
simple pleasures bring the greatest rewards.
hope you all had a good day too.x

You a Nana too. I love my grandson calling me that.0 -
Hi Trish! yes Nana such a lovely warm name isn't it?
My grandsons call me 'Nana down the hill' which I thought was a bit alarming when they started calling me that until I understood the reason:
Mat and Tom's other gran was called 'granny' for years by Alan (older grandson). At aged 3 Mat decided that she should be called Nana too (no one knows why) and in order to differentiate he called his other gran 'Nana up the hill' and me 'Nana down the hill' as that is the direction(s) they take when leaving home to visit us.
Their other gran has now moved house and is 'down the hill' too but the boys are sticking to the names!
kids are great...x

Going to get ready to greet the day, not so bright as yesterday, but I expect the sun will shine through later. Off to visit my 85 year old friend, who I like to see at least once a week, to catch up on the local and family goss, have a laugh, hold her hand and make her feel wanted.
Have a good day

I have been into town on my bicycle, done the shopping and am back now in the blissful peace of our home and garden. Line full of washing, sun shining, what more could I want. Nothing at this moment in time.

Reason to be cheerful? To come on this thread, and read Elna, who never fails to make me feel more cheerful, because, in my opinion, she has her priorities right. I have taken the entire summer off, to enjoy exactly the same things that you do Elna.........Ange.0 -
Been at OH mums house in the garden. She had nearly 2 year old granddaughter visiting who is full of the joys of life.
Nearly got wiped out on the M40 by a blind driver so pretty glad I am still alive to tell the tale!Lucky the brakes work and we all had our seat belts on(I find with arthritic body it is a bit difficult to do up my seat belt so dont always bother).

So relieved that you were all ok, Elizabeth. Scary! Yes, that was a wakeup call to wear your seatbelt at all times. It is a shame that your happy day was marred by the driving incident.

mowed the two lawns in the sunshine, swept and tidied up a flower border nearer the house. The mowing was easier this time as it was the second cut of the year and I did not leave it long from the first mow.

Hope you enjoyed your day.
We have had a few drivers pull out on us lately. This lady didnt even notice us as my OH gave her an evil stare as we passed her.
Daniel is away today so we should mow the lawn too.He cannot bear the noise so we cant do it when he is here. Thanks for the reminder about planting spuds Elna as we still had that job to do but now completed.
Bit gloomier today weatherwise.
