:D Lovely day again :D Still in PJs because have not finished all my stretching exercises yet :D Shower to follow and then a few leisurely chores including preparing dinner because I am out at 5.00 p.m. for an hour or so. Up until then the day is my own to do what I want - what a lovely position to be in - I really do count my blessings :D

    What a great thread!

I'm happy because I got up at 6 00 am and got into work for 8 15 am for an early meeting - quite an achievement - usually I arrive at 10 00 am because I'm slow in the mornings!

I managed to take the dogs out for a reasonable walk this evening so after a bit of chasing each other round they are now asleep and I'm enjoying watching a programme about Rome with Griff Rhys Jones(a city I love. but haven't visied for many years) ..

Really looking forward to the sunny weekend too..

:D I am getting interested in this GF diet business. Bought the GF SR flour and although it should really be plain, I have made a crumble for my boy to take tomorrow on the train (I will freeze it or it may be a little difficult to transport  ) and will be making a sultana cake or two with the SR flour as well.

Perhaps I will make GF bread shortly - it is expensive to buy. Keeps me out of mischief anyway. :D:lol: I am being sooooo careful not to cross contaminate.  I also made an apple crumble with flour and oats but did that first and then gave the worktops a good clean.

    Hi Elna

I'm on a gluten free diet too. I've adapted quite well, I think, I've substituted bread for jacket potatoes and GF crackers. I don't like the GF bread and won't ever get round to making my own, or different chapattis to everyone else, so I've found way around it.

Have you tried the GF pasta? Asda do a nice brand, tastes exactly the same as wheat pasta.

    Hi Nina :)
I know you are! :) My son also likes jacket pots thank goodness and those crackers. He only started the GF diet on 18 April but immediately started to feel better. The GF apple crumble looks better than the ordinary one I made but that was half oats and flour. :D

The cakes look and smell delicious. :D Hope they cut ok. Anyway, he will love it. I may well try making bread but I do not work full time like you and my kiddies have long flown the nest. :)

He eats the GF pasta. He likes the bread but it is expensive. He can eat popcorn and potatoe crisps and drink cider!!

If you hear of any good sweets, do let us know. I got him some mint imperials which are meant to be GF although they do not actually state that. I was assured by the supermarket concerned that they are.

    Luv

    Reasons to be cheerful today...

    1. I have just discovered you can buy rice pudding from the fridge section at the store and have treated myself to a big pot! :D

    2. And the sun is out

    3. And I got told a funny story this morning

    4. And I am about to send off a birthday present to my Dad and a gift to my BFF

    5. And I am looking forward to a fish supper and an early night

    6. And looking at these reasons it occurs to me I am happy with the simple things in life

:D I slept well last night which made a change :D Today shall be a peaceful day and I shall not venture from the home and garden. I love days like that :D

:D I shall potter in the garden and hope to make a success at experimenting with some GF bread. I am surprised that the recipe for bread on the back of the flour packet includes eggs and white vinegar in the ingredients. :D

I hope you all have a good day,

I'm so glad that I started this thread. If I ever feel the need to be cheered up, I just read all the reasons to be cheerful on here.

My reasons to be cheerful today are :

I set myself a goal this week to try to get more fit by walking. So far, I have been for a walk every day, and already I am feeling the benefits of it. I am less achy and stiff, and I have slept better too.

I am going to my art class this afternoon, which is always a highlight of my week. It is run by my local group of A Care ( EMASH ) and we have a lovely teacher who is a very talented artist. My friends at the class are a super group of people, so I really enjoy the class.

My reasons for being cheerful today include

    1. My cat has had me in stiches with his antics. He has become obsessed with a small spice tin containing chilli, harissa and rose petal powder. He is currently laying beside me spooning and nuzzling the tin while my other cat looks on quizzically with a raised eyebrow.

    2. I can't wait to move to the country and have more room to breathe. I think I'm very lucky.

    3. I am exceedingly proud of my hubby and his promo at work. He was always considered 'the runt of the litter' by his family and has shown the doubting Thomas's of his world that he shouldn't be underestimated.

    4. Recently friends of ours got married in Vegas - on Saturday there is a big party to celebrate and I am really excited to catch up with everyone.

    5. My garden is really starting to come alive again after the cold, cold winter and is already looking pretty.

    6. I am having my hair cut today

:D I love this thread. Joan, thank you so much for starting it. Most days, now I actually think of happy, positive, cheerful things that will occur in my day. none of them are earth shattering. Most people can think of something positive in their day if they try and that can only be a good thing for body and mind.

Hugs to everyone today, I have many to give away. :D

Arna, hope the hair cut goes well. I had mine done on Friday and my son does not like it. I had fair hair for years but went brown/copper in Sept.It grew out so went blonde again and lo and behold son in tears and wants it brown again!

    Haha! Oh dear!
It doesn't sound like you can win does it! I hope he can get used to it, maybe it was a bit of a shock for him
I have very dark hair so have never tried going blonde, I think I would look a bit weird - I wish I was like you and could change from one to the other, you lucky thing!
Today won't be an exciting cut just tidying up the back bit of my bob but it will be nice as my hairdresser is a great friend of mine so it will be lovely to catch up with him
