I'm a bit like you Elna.
I often say to myself that I won't iron the duvet cover this time or the sheets, but once ironed ( I use my beloved hot press) but once done, isn't it lovely climbing into bed with freshly ironed sheets and pillow cases. And I just love getting that pleat down the front of trousers. I do buy clothes for myself that don't need ironing, and I don't iron towells but do iron kitchen towells. They fit into the drawer better.. My Italian friend irons everything, even under pants. Now that is going too far.

And they DO fit in the airing cupboard that way too

The maid irons the pants says it is for health reasons, gets rid of bacteria and mold spores, smells nicer too.Ilike my sheets ironed too.Have a steam press, the steam doesnt work though.use spray bottle.Husband was an Army brat does his own,he tells me I dont do them right so I dont.

    Hi Joy

I agree with you about the bed linen, so much nicer if ironed :D I usually iron something most days. Cannot bear to have clothes lying around, waiting for an iron to be passed over them :D
Just one of my many foibles! :D

Happy ironing to us peeps, obviously in the minority. :D

    Luv

ellsbells, is your maid ironing dirty underwear? Isn't one meant to iron clean items? And what is all this nonsense about duvet covers and sheets? Whaaaaat? Why? Yes, I agree, the sensation is wonderful but all the extra standing . . . . . . no. I loathe ironing sitting down, it just doesn't work. I do iron my shower curtain, however, it does inhibit the growth of mould.

Had a brief blast yesterday, The Husband's hankies and a few Tshirts, plus three linen skirts, 22 panels each. Ugh. I began to think there might be a good reason for this club after all. Is this particular worm beginning to turn? DD

HANKIES :?: :?: :?: Really, DD, you must STOP immediately before it is too late :!: This is well beyond the call of duty!!

Another branch of the I Hate Ironing Club is the I Hate Housework Club. I find housework even more soul-destroying than ironing in many ways. Now I guess that someone is going to tell me that they find satisfaction in dusting and cleaning, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a necessary evil which I try to avoid. I'm not lazy ( honest!) but I can always think of a hundred things I would rather do.

When I first met my OH I would wait in his house for him to finish work so I would iron his stuff while waiting and yes pants too. Boy was I ribbed by his female lodgers.
See where it got me girls!!!!! Im forever expected to do these things. Its a modern day pre-nup. Like sex and tea in bed. Once you start youre not allowed to stop.

I'll quite happilly join the club. I only iron if I have to and that's not very often. I get someone else to do the housework - cannot stand that either as too busy doing other things.

Rest assured Joan- its the housework and children that prevent me from drawing. but Im starting to see the light. Why should I do the ironing when i dont get any thanks or help?

    Hi Joan :D

am I too late to join the IHIC?

I haven't ironed a thing for aeons (sp)...such a waste of time and energy...and think of the unnecessary water used  no wonder there's a hose pipe ban every year.

so not ironing is my contribution to saving the planet.

anyway one of my dogs chewed right through the iron's cord (without prompting..clever dog) so protecting me from succumbing to the slightest thought or moment of weakness.:lol:

    clever dog Iris....

we could all borrow him in turn...?

Sure you are welcome any time.

Only criteria is that you hate and avoid ironing.

One or two havent completed their 12 steps yet...

but we are working on them...

I would have joined this thread earlier but I'm afraid that I do quite like doing my ironing on a Sunday morning: I do it between our Sunday morning swim and going to the temple at lunchtime. But I do hate ironing shirts.

I also have 3 girls who I obviously must train to be independent women and so they will soon be doing their own ironing  This is why girls are best.
