Morning all 😊 just a quick call while waiting for grocery delivery, and to post a What's This Seed question, wot I can't be bothered to google, 😉 see below.

Frog sorry to hear NO cucumbers are they generally temperamental? Not much going on with me either yet. Not a bad day out there but blowy! Slugs can have a free run here really, for all I know they might find life non-stop fun 🎉 (doubtful, but you never know!), and anything that's enjoying itself more than me, well, carry on chaps. Remind me I said this if I start growing something precious and slug-prone, it might be a different story. I would like to get my broad beans past the blackfly stage this year as the advice to pinch them out at x height was no use to me, they never made it to that size before it was all over. 😕 And they ignored my companion planting flat.

Morning joan thank you for the clocks reminder, had gone clean out of my head as always. It's the 27th will make a note of. Beautiful picture of your dear dogs, they have such lovely faces and of course those coats are fabulous too. I do miss not knowing anyone now who has a dog I can at least 'borrow'.

Jason your cat is a beauty too 😺 I am a cat lover but very much a bird (and mouse &c &c) lover too so it makes life difficult as you obviously know only too well! I called my neighbour's cat a naughty cat a few posts back, this is poetic licence ofc; I don't hold any cat responsible for hunting, and it's no easier to see a sparrowhawk make off with one of my lovely doves - just the sad hard facts of nature. (One thing you'll notice here btw is that people will say 'don't worry about reading & responding to everyone'.. and then still tend to apologize for not doing 😄 try to restrain yourself from this 😉 I'm happy for anyone to reply to what strikes them as reply-worthy and skim over the rest, & just consider myself included in any general hellos. 😊)

Right, kettle on, and I have 12 hot cross buns coming as a sub/upgrade from what I ordered, so I may need help. Have a good day all xx

What are these seeds, anyone? They were put aside in my odds/must plant these sometime category, but I don't remember where they were from & if I picked them up on a walk maybe.. as I don't think they're from anything I have.. ruler for scale, they are small seed heads with what resemble very small hollyhock type seeds, the leaves are crispy now obviously but look a bit vine-like?

Hello friends. Today Chris’s appointment letter arrived so I’ve booked his patient transport. It’ll be a change him going and not me. Tomorrow the DN is coming to weigh us and measure us.

Barbara, good news for Mr B.

Reshmi, I hope you managed to escape Vesuvius dad!

Jason, what a beautiful ginger, I have a ginger son, red hair is gorgeous. Here is a Poem I wrote about Aidan

    How I Wish

How I wish I could write a poem for you

     our dear friend Aidan,

to tell of the sorrow and pain with which

     our hearts are laden.

     You nursed us,

     you fed us,

     you made us laugh.

     Your love always welcomed all

     here in Val’s cafe.

Yes, I wish I could write a poem for you

     our beloved friend Aidan.

     We‘ll miss you each day

     you are gone away

     and will always remember our

     dear friend Aidan

Joan, what a lovely photo of Lexi and Pepper.

Antoinette, I am indeed Madame Sleekipus’s half sister. We are waiting until Chris’ X-rays before we start things off, but it’s all down to the powers that be really.

Love to Toady Mike and Arthuritis .

    Emily and Alex.

My ginger son and his sister Helen.

Hi Toni how are you today? Thanks for your nice message I’m glad that your sister is self aware too. Hasn’t the weather become odd? positively tropical really, lol. Didn’t Even have to touch the portable heater in the spare room which must be a good thing 😊. Yes LA is definitely keeping us entertained with his funny questions and phrases, lol, a fabulous little guy definitely but becoming increasingly naughty oh dear, I think Bill thinks the answer is giving him more and more sweets he doesn’t realise that to too many sugar rushes cannot do anyone any good especially little toddlers, oh well certainly not my place to interfere, so I’ll continue in my role as smiling sister-in-law. My mum said that one day I could take LA to Costa with me, I said that I didn’t think that was the best idea because he were to discover that’s goddess auntie Mima is certainly not going to be a pushover and buy him all the chocolate cakes in all the land, he would have the biggest tantrum lying on the floor of Costa, not the hygienic well-behaved or dignified behaviour oh dear I think I’ll let his mummy deal with the tantrums she’s The expert, according to all the legal documentation anyway, haha. I Think I Did mention on here to Barbara I think that I had a foot sprain yesterday but it was a lot better after sleeping and walking thanks it’s still present but barely bothering me now so that’s good, I went to C today, I don’t always but I did today, anyway it wasn’t too bad and I was fairly controlled for once I just had tea and buttered toast I left the jam there I even left my disposable gloves I always worry about things like that whether they minded, anyway I didn’t have sugar which was good by my standards, I did have a bit of a strange lunch today I must admit toast with jam and and sweetcorn, sweetcorn is is in a separate bowl I didn’t eat them all together, lol, The thing is I know this is odd to most people I really like sweetcorn when I was at uni I ate bowls of it I’d have one bowl for supper or something like that but nowadays I don’t go so fully mad with it today I had three big tablespoons normally I’d have two is sweetcorn a veg you enjoy Toni? Or is this really one of my eccentricities, lol? just wondering okay I’ll leave it there for leave it there I think for now I’ve done a lot of a vegan or possibly non-vegan waffling I hope you’re having a nice day how was your walk? bye Tc. Xx

    Morning everyone

Morning Mike how are you today I wonder? I do hope doing ok. Any news yet about a date for your PET scan and for the Picc line to be inserted? Sending my usual ((())) and strength.

Jason we would not expect you to know us all in 5 minutes!

I love your ginger puss he is so pretty. When Sleek was younger she could bring us 4 creatures A DAY. Oh it was dreadful😕 I think there is not a vole or mouse in the area here anymore. She has steadied down now and is much calmer I just see the odd 'half' a body outside.

Joan a great photo there of Lexi and Pepper. I remember Pepper as a pup after you lost your last one. You take care you and Sue ((())) xxx

Toady I haven't had this trouble with my cucumbers before....🤨 Although I have had two whole young plants seen off in one night by....you guessed it - slugs!!!! Now I just stick copper tape around them and all is well. I think i will plant some more today.

I might start tidying my shed too....

Oh after I help out at the community centre's cafe this morning. 2 out of 4 of the ladies who run it have COVID so it won't be able to open without extra help.

Blackfly🙄the only thing I can think is maybe soapy water spray? That's what i have always done. I always pop some marigolds near my 🍅 toms I think that's all we can do really - our best.

Those seeds are holyhockesque I must agree. Plant them please do so we can have a lovely surprise.

I have to agree with you about not replying to everyone. When I am away I often just do a generic post so everyone knows I'm ok and not much more. There is no obligation to reply to us all individually at all.

Kitty did you see Brynmor's post about us helping him help us with larger print for those of us with eyesight issues? I think he might mean you and Barbara although Toady seems quite techie too...

Great news about Chris' X-ray now the ball can start rolling. It will do him good to go this time so you can see what is happening. You will be on your own for a bit which you will probably enjoy!

Love seeing your 'children' we have ginger here too - Paul's side. He is borderline; his uncle 'Ginger' (died during covid) was obviously ginger and Tia has a hint. It's lovely to be different.

Thank you for posting Aidan's poem again it's lovely and full of memories.

Sleek said of course you are her half sister. As usual she is reading over my shoulder.

Morning Reshmi it is mild! What is going on? weird, but welcome might save something on our fuel bills anyway. I hope you are feeling ok today aches wise and also within yourself. If your ankle is ok shall we walk later? I thought this morning?

I think BIL's theory about fillling the boy up with sugar is not the way forwards at all😖 nooo! It will make things worse for sure. Bless him I don't know the answer, but expect LA will grow out of some of his cheekiness as he gets a bit older. I reckon your sister is the very person to deal with his tantrums. Her name is on his paperworkas is BIL's but she will be best at it. You will be able to take him to Costa in time once he has grown out of the tantrum phase he would love that and be so proud of his Auntie the Goddess Mima!

Tantrums are not at all dignified are they? lucky we usually only have them when we are fairly young😳

Tea and toast is fine at Costa and actually pretty healthy by their standards so you did well. I am not happy with them at the moment as they have changed their soya milk and it's 🤢

I love ALL veg I even like parsnips and sprouts! My sister makes a lovely sweetcorn dahl and a sweetcorn soup I reckon you and she would get on well!!

Sorry I nearly forgot yesterday's walk was 'different' I walked with a villager a horse and a little girl on the horse!! So I had company. The little girl is just learning so I didn't slow them down.

Barbara it's difficult to reassure someone when they are facing surgery, but really he should remember you have had both of yours done!!

If there's anything urgent or important of course I will make sure you know don't worry.

The animal pics are just lovely aren't they? I must find one of Sleek for Jason to see.

Did you see this messgae from Brynmor?

    Good Morning to you all!

I hope everyone is having a productive day.

@frogmorton, you seem like quite the gardener. I'd love to be able to garden properly but I don't really know what I'm doing. I've had some minor successes with a Japanes Maple, a couple of rose bushes, a honeysuckle & a jasmine but other than keeping the grass cut and the weeds at bay that's about the limit for me! We have a huge garden at the back and a large one at the front and just keeping the weeds at bay is a full time job in the summer!

Newbie question! How do you make your text large? It look's as though you all do this to help Kitty and I'd love to be inclusive.

Well, today is laundry day so I'll be in full Jeeves mode!

Hi Toni how are you today? I would indeed meet you for a walk if I could, lol. Yes I agree overloading a kid with sugar is def not the answer. I Think you’re right he’s bound to grow out of it fairly soon he’s really just a bit mischievous rather than really naughty, he’s never helped himself to a whole bag of jelly sweets even though he’s had opportunity to for example. Sorry I’m a bit kind of disorientated atm, more tired than anything else also skin is also starting to feel quite nasty, some New terminology to learn by the way, lol, MV Mum Vesuvius, DV Dad Vesuvius and of course you already know HV, oh and I’ll coin a new acronym while I’m at it, lol, SV Sister Vesuvius, these terms will help me if no one else in the public voice controlling sessions such as this one, ok back to my message so MV exploded quite early on today, not good really but that’s what happened, probably me and the parents Vesuvius will eat lunch outside tomorrow, but I’m meant to be having methotrexate a few hours after the potential meal outside, so not looking forward to that, hi to everybody else, promise to try and send less impersonal message tomorrow. Xx

Hi @Jason1972 - re large text, there are a couple of ways to come at it but after frogmorton pointed out a tweak to me I've been doing it this way -

type all your post, then (assuming that the bit you want to do in bold is in a separate paragraph of its own) take the cursor to the beginning of that block of text, then look to the left margin, where the symbol is (ie paragraph, the default) - click on that, then on H2, then on Heading 2. That should just bold/large the bit you want.

Or you can set it to H2 before you start typing the bit you want bolded, I just find it as easy to do it after. If all else fails ask frogmorton, I 'do' better than I 'explain'. 😉

Hello to everyone else, I'm not really here 🤫, so see you next visit. xx

hi Barbara I’m not too bad thanks , yes my mum‘s eyes have really improved thanks you know it was a bit of an odd thing but she hid the fact that her eyesight had become so bad with the cataracts for a long time I thought she wasn’t reading books because she was feeling depressed! oh that naughty mum anyway good that she’s feeling so much better now of course I use voice control when I write this messages here most of the time I had the same problem it makes up all this rude language and I have to constantly delete it technology isn’t all it’s cracked up to be is it really? I hope your day is not going too badly? take care. Xx

Morning you lovely lot. Just a quick visit as it is Asda day, our Social Worker rang me with name of a care company who will contact me to arrange a preliminary visit, to assess our situation. They are called True Hope or something like that. But the only company I can find on Google with that name, is a nutrition company! Sending hugs to all of you, as I look to the future with hope. Morning everyone!

The birds are singing outside the sun is rising here so a lovely start to the day.

Mike no news yet then. I think you should be able to take that as a good sign there isn't a mad rush. I think you were so sensible getting to the Drs quickly and spotting 'odd' signs that many people ignore. Vixen is doing a good job she's on standby for your hairballs bless her. What would we do without them? Strength and ((())) on it's way as always.

Kitty that's a lovely photo! I can really see you in your children as children especially Emily. Sleek wants to come for the X-ray with Chris is that ok? When is it he goes? But she also wants to stay with you because 'Aunty Kittie wil be onn her owne'

Which side of the family are your ginger roots?

Joan it is getting warmer i agree with you. I like sunshine though most of all do you? It doesn't have to be hot just bright will do me ☀️ My lovely neighbour wants to go into respite when her husband has his hip done. She doesn't want the carers in the house overnight. ((())) xxx for you and Sue

Jason I LOVE the garden it makes me so happy. Ours is large too they often are around bungalows and the people we bought the house from had purchased a large bit of greenbelt so that means we are very private, but a large part of the garden is only grass i can't plant on it. So last year we had the rest of it 'landscaped', raised beds put in and paths so it's all lovely and accessible and much easier for me. I imagine yours is a bit like ours and a fair bit of work. I am absolutely not always successful, but like Toady I just love being out there. Kitty used to love gardening too and feels sad that she can't manage hers now.

I bet almost every single one of those lines about hairdresser trips applies to all of us!! I always think mine looks better a week or so after the cut and definitely that I do mine better!

Lucy my youngest tidied her room yesterday so I will have washday blues here too today🙄Aidan used to call it wishy washy's when it was wash day. Ironing next😫

Well done sussing out our larger print so quickly it does help Kitty and Barbara.😊

Morning Reshmi. Is it Friday already? Noooo! MTX day. Well you do your best to enjoy your meal out today it will be nice. Your skin will at least appreciate your MTX even if you do not.

Oh dear me Mum vesuvius went off yesterday? poor you (Poor her too feeling so explosive) I hope the lava has slowed down now. Good idea coining the new acronyms; much safer if you are voice texting in a potentially public place. I think it really helped Barbara voice texting don't you? Even if sometimes it invents funny words like Bryony instead of Brynmor. I wonder what he makes of that🤭

Your Mum must be so independent to have kept her eye issues to herself for so long. I am glad that she finally accepted help.

I am sure little LA will grow out of his cheekiness as you say he is not really naughty nor nasty so it is certainly just a phase. He is only 3 after all. In the meantime we can all enjoy and smile at his antics!

Oh I have got 'main course' for the safari supper 8 of us including myself and Paul. We can seat 8 in socially distanced couples so i am not too worried. Well of course I am a bit, but extra planning will help.

Shall we have a nice chai latte?

Hey ho Toady 😊thanks for helping Jason you are a star and a good techie person to have here. I am not really I just can learn and am prepared to try stuff out. For example yesterday afternoon my chrome crashed!!!!!!! yup would not open a new tab. Of course I did the turn it off and back on bit....twice to no avail😣It would not let me even uninstall.

So the cavalry were summoned. My bro. Now he is a techie whizz! 5 minutes later I was back up and running all for the price of a coffee too.

Today I WILL get out in that garden if it kills me and plant some more cucumber seeds and an extra tomato plant or two.

Barbara that speech to text is working really well I am impressed it's much better, but do you feel embarrassed in front of Mr B or do you wait until he is doing something else? Don't worry about capitals I very often put i instead of I anyway.

I wonder what Bryony makes of his new name? I quite like it myself🤭don't tell him!

Don't we look awful in the mirror at the hairdressers? Dreadful! We always look better when it's all done and I do like so see 'me' from behind then I know what other people see.

I wonder whether nurse Niamh will be over this weekend to visit you all? I hope she will be bless her.

Right better get something done today. I enjoyed the cafe, but not the standing so much my back is a tad crosser than usual this morning.

    Never mind eh?

    Right breakfast:

scrambled eggs and hash browns vegan/veg option available of course....
