Hi Cath ,
Good to hear you are on the way and being a good girl. I have just got back from hospital , starts sulfasalazine today ........worried i might get side effects and feel horrible but glad to at last get it sorted ......anyway all the best and speak soon ...........jilly xx0 -
Day one:
Spag bog- quorn mince, plum tomatoes, onion, garlic, jar of pasta sauce, tin of kidney beans and a touch of seasoning with some olive oil and wholewheat pasta (no cheese for me). Might find a bit of green stuff for a side salad.
Thats two days for two plus some left over for another day and another dish, hope OH likes it.
Anyone got any other low fat dishes?
8) Its a grin, honest!0 -
This is brilliant idea...hope it goes well for all i am sure it will.
Ideas for healthy eating have loads...hubby is on and off this programme more off than on.
Tin tomatoes are a great base for sauces low cal low fat....to these you can add what ever flavouring you want....garlic, ginger, curry powder, basil, balsamic vinegar, worcester sauce or other herbs you may have in your cupboard. Can also use to make a dip for your carrot or celery sticks (kept in cold water in the fridge).
Marinate chicken in ginger, sherry, garlic and worcester sauce and salt and pepper to taste over night then cook under the grill or in a foreman thingy.. very yummy and our kids love it.0 -
so far today i have had a weight watchers wrap. and some chunks of mango (was out so grabed them from the supermarket whilst my mate had a macdonalds, her treat for keeping her company, i think she was just trying to make sure i ate something after todays effort with the esa and job centre bless her)
im not sure what is for tea yet, kids are still looking at each other trying to deside what they want.
only had 2 coffees with sugar today also.
hope everyone is managing ok.0 -

Hi everyone!
I am so pleased that we have all taken the diet milarky to heart and its quite uplifting to hear your efforts and recipes.I have been out most of the day with Twister, she stayed last night and we have been to Lakeside shopping outlet at Doncaster - She has spent a fortune on new clothes _ I have bought 3 birthday cards!! She has walked me to death, Have have had to keep sitting on benches but it has been a glorious day so no complaints, also I used the new walking stick I got from the hospital and its far comfier than my own cheap one.
So far today I have had cereal for breakfast a chicken wrap (190 cals) and a coffee for lunch and ham salad for tea. I am sure I must have used some calories hobbling round the shopping outlet!
Well done all of you, and even if you slip up a bit it doesn't matter - just start again - we are human after all!
Cath0 -
well tea ended up being a spoon full of rice and a spoonful of beef chow mein, put it in a small cereal bowl so it looked more than it was, son came back with a large take out for all. normally id have had a plate full so a much smaller portion even if not so healthy.0

i think everyone thinks im gona starve0
-
Hi everyone
If you read Rons thread what are you eating today....pleases dont shout at me...my lovely neighbour took me to the seaside and I couldnt resist the fish and chips...sorry
I promise to be good tomorrow.....
Barbara who is mad at herself.. :roll:Love
Barbara0 -
Coco - I doubt very much that you will starve!
I just need to get my head around changing my tastes and stop the in between meals nibbling. I am determined that I will not be buying any more crisps or biscuits and have banned myself from eating bread unless it is part of a meal! I have a tendency to hit the bread bin and have crisp sandwiches or....Bread and salad cream at the drop of a hat...... Salad cream is now restricted to a teaspoon - with salads, and it is the low cal variety. I also love cheese - I love cheese toasties - I have put the toastie machine at the back of the cupboard and am going to replace my hard cheese for cottage cheese - which fortunately I do like!
Barbara - dont beat yourself up - fish and chips is fine
as long as its not everyday!
Cath
Cath0 -
Hi again I know that I have just posted but.......
I dont want people to be unhappy dieting... I dont want people feeling guilty about enjoying food, I dont want people to be partie poopers at parties and I dont want people to begrudge themselves treats when they have deserved it-- Chocolate and alcohol included.
Perhaps we should not think of this as dieting but as making some sensible changes to our way of life. We only live once - we might as well enjoy the journey!
Just think - if we only lose 1lb a month --- that is 12lb a year and how quick does a year go?
Cath0 -
a treat is good for you i just had a small black current cheese cake it was lovely do not feel guilt as so long as it part of a meal and not having sweets, cakes etc in between it a marathon not a sprint valval0
-
You are quite right Val, as most of us need to lose stones not pounds - anyone knows that to complete a marathon training is required. We are all at the start of our training programme - it will just take us some time to final tune - I am not worried I know we will get there - slow but sure!

O my list is endless for recipies altohugh I do follow Slimming world I am a chocoholic! depending on if its deserts or main meal ideas your after if you let me know Ill have a look for some healthy alternatives to "lardy" food.
Heres an idea for you for cake, will keep you regular as well
ingredients
4 Scan Bran
2 eggs
3 or 4 tbsp sweetener (to taste)
1 sachet Belgian Choc Options
26g Curly Wurly bar
method1. Soak the Scan Bran in boiling water to soften. Then drain and mash.
2. Beat the eggs and stir into mix, along with the sweetener and Belgian Choc Options
3. Chop the Curly Wurly into pieces and add to the mix
4. Pour the mixture into a microwavable bowl and cook for around 6 minutes. When cooked the cake will be springy to the touch and will have pulled away from the side.
Tip: Chef's tip: For those who don’t have a microwave, you can cook the cake on 200°C/Gas Mark 6 for approximately 30 minutes.
Home made Fish and Chips
ingredients4 x 142g/5oz cod fillets
juice of 1 lemon
salt and freshly ground black pepper
908g/2lb Maris Piper or King Edward potatoes
Fry Light
57g/2oz breadcrumbs
4 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
2 eggs
method1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas 6. Place the cod fillets in a bowl, sprinkle over the lemon juice and season well. Leave to marinate for an hour.
2. Meanwhile, peel the potatoes and cut into thick chips. Bring a pan of water to the boil and cook the chips for 5 minutes. Drain and dry on kitchen paper. Return to the dry pan and shake to ‘rough up’ the edges. Transfer to a non-stick baking sheet, spray with Fry Light and season well.
3. Mix together the breadcrumbs, parsley and seasoning to taste. Lightly beat the eggs and place in a bowl. Dip each cod fillet into the egg mixture and then into the breadcrumbs mixture to coat evenly and place on a baking sheet sprayed with Fry Light.
4. Place the chips in the oven and cook for 10 minutes. Add the fish and cook for a further 15-20 minutes. Divide between four plates and serve with tomato ketchup (1 Syn per level tbsp).

can I join you all, operation 4 6 weeks and been told to lose weight. I have at the moment gone up to 14.3 stones.
But my trouble is I am not a good eater. Fruit and fibre for brekkie, yogurt and small mouse for lunch, tea time I usually have cheese on toast or another bowl of cereal, scrambled eggs or something rediculas like that. Not very interested in food much.
But I must lose weight.
