just watched one of my favorite films of all time on Sky, Philadelphia (sorry if spelling is wrong!). I remember reading the book and it being better than the film so just about to go fishing on my Kindle for it and seeing how much it is!!

Just picked up Blackberry Wine so will begin in the bath tonight!

So many films just aren't as good as the book. In fact, I can't think of any where the film is better but plenty where it is much worse!!

I have been reading and unwell, having a very nasty flare up with many deeply unpleasant symptoms. Sorry to have been absent.

I find films disappointing when I have read the book first.

Reading some Mary Higgins Clark books at the moment, very easy. :D

I'm reading another Lee Child book at the moment, so is my hubby and so is my son. Must be something in the air here.

If you haven't read one, then I can recommend them if you don't mind a bit of violence in a story.

Suzy I haven't expected to hear from you as we all know you have been very poorly, I hope you start to feel better soon. I will find a temp to look after The Book Club while I'm away for Christmas. You just get yourself better and stronger. Bet you will have read a few books and have a few reviews to do!

Janet, I know this will sound crazy but I love a bit of violence and blood in my movies!! :o So I wouldn't mind a bit of graphic violence in a book as long as it takes you into the story! I will have a look at the author Lee Child might be up my street!! :D

As I said a couple of days ago I watched one of my all time favorite films Philidelphia and wanted to get the book on my Kindle. So to my surprise when I went to buy it I couldn't find it for the Kindle and found there are a few books you still can't get on a Kindle. It says in a box to click on a link to register your interest for the book to be put onto Kindle format. So I did!

As I mentioned I'm going to need someone to look after 'The Book Club' while I'm away over the Christmas period as my number 2 Suzygirl is poorly at the moment. If anyone would be willing to do this for me could you please PM me and I will decide and name the person over the next week. I'm very grateful to anyone who is willing to do this as The Book Club means a lot to me and all who have joined. It has become my baby!! :)

Hello Frogmella - all the Lee Child books are separate stories so you could start anywhere. But the first one, Killing Floor, I found superb and couldn't put in down. My son has got hooked and is buying them cheap off the internet, for as little as 10p. Hubby finds them in the local charity shop.

Janet, I love books you can't put down. I shall look out for that one, or maybe we could make it a book of the month??

You haven't chosen one yet, so maybe you would like to choose one for Jan? Will have to see what Bubbadog says.

Thanks for the info Janet, I had worked out that they were only a sort of series (bit like the PDJames ones) and that I could probably pick up anywhere but I do like to "do" a series in order  . Thanks for letting me know which was first - I will order from library now. :D

I have started Blackberry Wine and like it so far. Head a bit of a jumble at the moment so haven't read much since thursday but will be back on it tonight - promise!

We could have a Lee Child book for Book of the month in January if everyone is happy with that, so Janet you can think about which book you would like to choose by Lee Child and let me know by the end of Next Week (I will have to name January's Book of the month early what with going away in a couple of weeks!)

I learned yesterday how light touched Kindles are! I was looking at 50 Shades Freed the final book in the trilogy. Just to see what the reviews where like for the book when BHAM!! the page changed to ' your book is being downloaded!' I don't even remember pressing the purchase book button! Luckily it wasn't too expensive to buy! So lesson learned becareful where the cursor is hovering!!

    Hello bubbadog

I found "Worth Dying For" a rivetting read - The main character, Jack Reacher, walks right into deadly trouble in the wilds of Nebraska. He falls foul of the Duncans, a local clan that has terrified an entire county into submission. But it's the unsolved case of a missing eight-year old girl, already decades old, that Reacher can't let go. The Duncans want Reacher gone, or dead.

It is described as a heart racing page turner no suspense fan will want to miss.

Made me breathless just typing this. Hope you think this will be suitable for the Book of the Month.

Janet, could you do the Review for Worth Dying For in the correct way for The Book Club? You will see the way it is done further back on this thread. Thank you, it makes easy to understand.

That's exactly how I bought the new JKRowling Amanda!! It wasn't a cheap book either, but has been good.

That Book of yours sounds as though it must be fantastic Janet if it makes you feel like that writing about it :D

Hello bubbadog. Have read a couple of your reviews so I hope the following is what you are after.

WORTH DYING FOR by LEE CHILD

Jack Reacher, ex military cop now turned hobo, travels around the States and is always finding trouble with a capital T. Arriving in the wilds of Nebraska he walks into trouble between the violent Duncan clan and the local farmers and townspeople. Everybody is terrified of the Duncans and dare not cross them. Reacher knows he should just hightail it out of town but feels compelled to help out the struggling townspeople and gets drawn into the unsolved mystery of a missing eight year old girl, already decades old, and he can't let go. The Duncans are involved in many illegal activities, including drugs and murder. Although the townspeople are terrified of the Duncans, they agree to help Reacher to bring them down.

This is the fifteenth in the Jack Reacher series, but as with all the Reacher books, it stands alone as a self contained story and as such can be read out of order.

Rating (for me) ***** (and counting)

    Hi Book Dwellers,

This is such a busy time of year that I've forgotten to review Snow Child, November's Book of the Month. Sorry

    Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey

This was just my sort of book. I'd describe it as a fairytale for adults. Beautifully written, eerie in parts, happy and sad and quite mysterious. I was there with them in the cold snow of the Alaskan wilderness. A perfect read with Christmas on the horizon :D:D
    5*

What do other book dwellers think?

    Good choice Fregmella :D

knuckleduster (Janet) has chosen Worth Dying For by Lee Child for January's book of the month she did a review on it as she has read it already but gives it high praise. Will be interesting to see all your thoughts on the book. Enjoy!!
