    Oooh Me too Legs

    Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey

Now this was NOT my type of book and I wouldn't have chosen it myself, but thanks to the 'book club' I have read and enjoyed something I would have missed out on :D

I agree with legs it is a 'fairy tale' about a, sadly, childless couple who go to Alaska and meet a fairytale child there. It i a story of a woman's gradual acceptance of that sad fact.

It was a beautiful story; unusual, sad and happy, well written, enchanting and I am very glad it was suggested as book of the month.

    I give it a 4****

Amanda, I hope that you have a great holiday.

I am behind with Novembers and Decembers book of the month due to flaring. I apologise and hope to catch up soon.

Toni, I have just finished reading the Nicci French book with the stalker, I enjoyed it. Just started reading another book of hers.

Wendy, I saw and advert last night for a film starring Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. I assume it is based on the Lee Childs books?

Hope all are well and keeping warm.

I love history Toni, especially all the little details and facts but the fictional books tend to be a bit' economical with the truth'.

Sadly I never have time to read as much as I'd like.

For those of you who manage to download a book you didn't want on kindle, which is so easily done, you can return any book within 7 days.
Just click on manage your kindle, click the action tab for the book and select return for refund- once you're refunded you won't be able to access the book anymore.
    Hope his helps.

My 3 books have arrived, so I am set for a good read. :D

Just finished Beneath the skin by Nicci French

It is about 3 women and a killer who chooses them. Kept me guessing although I did have a fairly good idea. An enjoyable read.

Just in time for Christmas Suzy!

I just finished The Kingmaker's Daughter by Philippa Gregory

It is a historical fiction during the Cousin's War (War of the roses)It is about Anne Neville the daughter of The Earl of Warwick. He was a plotter who was instrumental in getting Edward onto the throne. He used his two daughters as pawns in his power games. Anne ended up married to King Richard the Third. This is th ethird book around this period and reading about it from yet another angle gives a different view as to who were the heroes or villains.

    I enjoyed it. so ****

Toni, you talked so enthusiastically about Blackberry Wine that I have started to read it, am half way and enjoying it. I am suprised as it isn't a book I would normally pick, I don't like overly descriptive narratives.

I was going to save the books for my holiday. Oh well, have to buy more now :lol:

Just to say that although Blackberry Wine by Joanne Harris is a lovely read I have read others by her. Chocolat was excellent, Five Quarters of the Orange ok and Lollipop Shoes (Chocolat 2) was disappointing. I began to find them quite similar and I got tired of her formula although I had a good gap between books by her.

I would hate you to waste money.

    Happy reading book dwellers :D

    Thanks for the tip Legs.

Toni, yes our tastes are similar, which is why when you said Blackberry wine was good, I gave it a try.

I have enjoyed the book club, its really interesting reading books you wouldn't have tried otherwise.

    Thank you everyone.

I got 'lady of the rivers' by Philippa Gregory for Christmas. If I put it next to my bed I might find time to pick it up in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.
