They are so snuggly and want constant fuss, who am I not to give it to them!!! I did miss them like mad, I made a Arnie house so he had one like Willows but he took one look and walked off! But Willow has been in it twice already!

I've started reading The sudden Departure of the Frasers by Louise Candlish and so far so good!

I finished The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart and give it 3*s. It's about Merlin when he was a boy and his growing up. It was interesting in parts but there were a few too many battle scenes for my taste.

    PS Welcome back Bubba. :D

    Hi Amanda :)

I have a feeling we 'conned' our two new members JPH and Alumina into choosing the next two months books, but I can't remember who was doing which month????

I am so easily confused

Hope you have this sunshine too?

    Love

I think you are correct, Frogmorton! Maybe they each chose one and then that would be the two for the month?

I am really busy at work ATM, so not enough time to read. But I am enjoying The sudden disappearance so far.

Off to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert musical tomorrow pm and camping in our new tent next weekend. Hope for some dry weather! :sun: :sun:

    Good evening,

I am happy to suggest a BOTM for October (or November if JPH would like October and you only want one BOTM). I hope you will all be happy to read my choice!

    Jut tell me when.

BOTM October "The Hills is Lonely" Lillian Beckwith

"Surely, it's that quiet here even the sheeps themselves on the hills is lonely."

This is the first in a series of semi autobiographical novels about an English townswoman's move to the Hebrides. So accurate was her portrayal of life there that, although all names were changed and the book purported to be fictional, people recognised themselves - and didn't much like what they saw!

The books are a light and amusing account of the author's sojourn there as she went from being a boarder on a croft to croft owner.

It is available for the Kindle and is available in paperback on eBay, both at a reasonable price.

I really hope that you enjoy this book. Happy reading!

Good to see a "newbie" giving us a BOTM! I am enjoying the sudden departure of the frasers - it is a little bit desperate housewives I think!
Off camping tomorrow. Looks like good weather for it. We are going to walk the route of the Kinder trespass I think.

Have a good weekend peeps! :sun:

I have read a few by Matt Dunn and always enjoy them. They are a bit chick lit but from a male point of view. Generally easy reads. Might a good one, Bubba!

I finished The sudden departure of the Frasers over the weekend. I will review tomorrow/wednesday - off to the Hawthorns tonight. My week of Tuesday Wednesday off so should have some book related time then!

The sudden departure of the Frasers was a very good read, if a little predictable. It was easy to get into but at times I felt it 'over-egged the cake' a little but on the whole I really enjoyed it. I'll be interested to see what others thought. :D

    4 Stars from me.

    Get well soon Bubba 012.gif

I hope you get well soon Amanda.

    Hello Legs and Alumina :)

My review for the Sudden Departure of the Frasers

I had been looking forward to this book as it was likened to some I had enjoyed in the past like Gone Girl.

To start with I found it odd....a little unsettling and rather 'Stepford-wifey'. Everyone else seemed to know something except our main character, Christy.
A situation characters often find themselves in in books ;) Her husband and her having over-stretched themselves by buying the Fraser's old house.

I personally found Christy a bit weak and irritating, but rather liked the 'bad' Amber. Hardly any of the other characters were filled out enough for an opinion.

For ages it seemed there was no explanation for the Fraser's sudden departure. Just mystery, which Christy sets out to solve when she is made redundant and finds herself with time on her hands.

Even when I found out what happened I wasn't sure I had enjoyed the book. I think it's reviews had raised my expectations too high.

I would give the book 3* more if I hadn't already read Gone Girl!

    Love

    Toni xxx
