Hello everyone, Frog has requested that I post the following.

We have some good news - well two bits in fact! Lucy and Frog are at home for today, tomorrow and Sunday, which is fabulous :) but here's the truly amazing bit.

Lucy has received her exam. results. She took three subjects, she did very well in Science with achieving a grade C, :D her English and Maths results were not so bonny but that doesn't matter, does it? They will be re-done once she is in the maintenance phase of her treatment (which isn't that far away) and plans are being laid as to how this can be done as 'healthily' for her as possible.

I for one feel immensely proud of our lass, to take exams. when in such dire physical straits speaks volumes about her character and tenacity. I know I would have avoided them at all costs (which speaks volumes about me  ).

I am grinning and have asked Frog to smuggle a cuddle to Lucy from me. I am sure other cuddles can be duly smuggled if required. Isn't it fabulous news though? What a girl. DD

Like mig, I was utterly gobsmacked that someone in Lucy's situation would even contemplate going in to do exams.

How she could do so well, when the whole process of taking them must have been excruciating, has me completely lost for words. That young woman is an example to us all.

(Her mother's not so bad either  )

    Oh dear

Now look what you've all done

    p020.gif

Thank you so much for your very kind words. (DD thanks for letting everyone know)

We didn't go to school for results (Lucy being neutropenic) we waited for the letter yesterday.

It wasn't easy hearing all her friends results (good or bad) knowing just how poorly Lucy was at the time of the actual exams (that was when she was asleep 22 out of 24 hours a day). Some children have had it harder than most - Lucy being only one of them, but she is mine :D I am so proud of her and don't have words to express how proud

(Elizabeth thanks she did want to do well in her science - your son is also amazing I can imagine how proud you are :) )

The teacher at hospital recommends registering at local school to re-do maths and English (was expected to get an A you see) and then consider her future next year. She will have treatment until January 2016, so still at a huge disadvantage over everyone else, and re-takes alongside a full-time course will be too much I think.

    Anyway.

The sun is shining and still no sickness yet so fingers crossed she is coping well with 'delayed intensification'

love and thanks to all of you

You're more than welcome, Toni, 'twas my pleasure to pass on some better news and, as far as I am concerned, the girl did brilliant (yup, been listening to footy commentary  )

I am still grinning like a loon about yesterday, I enjoyed hearing about the prom but this? It is gorgeous, end of. There is more to life than exams. and I have no doubt that Lucy will achieve her deserved grades in due course. ((( ))) xxx DD

I think waiting to decide about her future studies sounds like a good plan. I know it is hard to be older than everyone else in your year but in the end it works out for the best. Health is more important than some exams at the moment and doing them when she is well again (which I am sure she will be) is better than trying them on top of everything else. She did really well in her circumstances and I am sure a load of As are waiting for her in a couple of years.

I hope things continue to go to plan. I think of you both. ((())) xxx

Lucy should be very proud of herself too. She will have time to redo her exams later and I'm sure she will do much better. Good to hear there is still no sickness. Hope the sun shines all weekend for you. xx

Morning Christine, frogmella, DD, Joan and Barbara

Thank you for your kind comments :)

We are off to the QE in a bit for more chemo...I know on a bank holiday  We will have to go to the adult's day ward for this, but they all love Lucy because she is so young

I am even more aware just how hard the nurses (and other medical staff) work than I was before.

At least the sun is shining today and Lucy has her order in for food (b*rger-k*ng on M6 - extortionate  ), having had steak for dinner last night.

I hope the sun is shining on you all too

    love
